A lot of people are upset that Plague now self Bleeds.

In particular it punishes Condition Builds with thousands or tens of thousands of bleeding damage, which is really terrible on a skill that already does terrible damage and has no clears. Reduced Cooldown triggers additional conditions (probably an extra bleed).

But, on the other had, if Plague is going to be a corruption, it has to have a self sacrifice. Vulnerability stacks defeat the whole point of Plague, Chill or Cripple or Immobilize make you useless, Pulsing Fear would be lols (You have stability so it doesn’t do anything unless you get stripped or transfer the fear), and Burning or poison is even worse than Bleed.

What if your corruption doesn’t make you self condition, what if this corruption makes you sacrifice, instead of a condition, things more valuable than a condition.


Here is My suggested Fix

Plague: (Corruption)

When you cast Plague, you must sacrifice

(1) All of your existing Minions, AND
(2) All of your existing spectral effects


My Idea is very new and nobody has thought about this before. Please let me know if this would make the skill too unbalanced in PvP or PvE with Plauge’s already long cooldown.

Or, how about it doesn’t get a sacrifice? It was balanced without one, so why change it? The Corruption tag is meaningless outside of the Master of Corruption trait, which adds its own cost.

Just make it work like now, but benefit from the trait. With the trait it can inflict bleed on self or whatever.

How about it becomes a well and instead of being made worse by a trait, it gets made better by one.

Plague is now the worst skill in game lol. Gonna make a hilarious video after release. I reackon i can 1v1 myself just by activating plague with the trait lol

The whole problem with the corruption tag is that it is the only skill type that has a negative effect on the caster. I understand it comes from gw1 and they wanna keep their necro theme or w/e….but its an old and archaic design that used to work in a game that’s not this one. Imo corruptions aren’t strong enough to have to be “balanced” by this negative effect. I’d say remove all negative effects completely OR if the negative effects must stay then buff all corruptions substantially so that it actually makes sense to use them with their drawbacks.
No one wants to feel punished for using a mediocre skill….like wth lol.

Can you keep yourself in combat for long enough? Actually that might be possible now with all the corruption conditions…

It does bother me that guardians elites got reworked and improved as a result. Whereas we only really saw nerfs to the base versions of our elites and our best heal.

I agree that consume and plague dont need negative conditions on the base versions. Just have negative conditions for when they are traited.

Agreed with this guy. All corruptions are balanced around the best case scenario that you can transfer them back: but none are particularly powerful other than corrupt boon, which is honestly not what it used to be. I mean compared to what other professions have, theb nly 2 good corruptions are epidemic and corrupt boon. Epidemic sees no play though because it’s only useful on boon heavy targets, has a long cast time, and condition removal is crazy right now. Corrupt boon we only run because of the boon spam taking place. We should have corruptions grant us something like stability, or destroy projectiles, buff us and allies. The new blood is power is a good start but it is just that, a start.

Nobody gets sarcasm/trolling anymore. Let me state it clearly:

They added a sacrifice to a skill that already had a fairly major sacrifice. The addition, even if thematically, was unnecessary.
