Fighting Dragonhunters
And yeah, I melt like butter when I happen to have to fight one while low on life force. Even a full bar doesn’t help that much, just prolongs my death ( against a good DH ).
I run the carrion frostfire meta. ( 3 signets, wurm )
This is the problem, I think. That build simply has a disadvantage against DHs.
You might be fine though with a few tweaks, for example: use Well of Power instead of Flesh Wurm. Or use Consume Conditions instead of Vamp Signet. Or switch to a more offensive amulet, like Viper, because you might be lacking some counter pressure.

Exactly, use Viper. You dont really need to change utilities or healing skill … just start with unblockable staff 2 + 3 or 3 + 5. That means ~10s of poison/bleed and 10s of chill in total of 10k+ damage. At this moment there are few scenarios:
1: He will use virtue of resolve/purity meditation to remove condis. I am switching to scepter/focus and re-apply condis: focus5 boon corrupt and chill, scepter auto chain, scepter 3 etc. You are ranged and you are not eating his traps at this moment, so most probably JI meditation or sword 2 + trap deployment follows= use one dodge. Spear of justice as last resort from him, you need to get out of LoS. The fight is almost over, switch back to staff, 2 + 3 + 5, profit You still have chilled to the bone and shroud/utilities to your disposal.
2: he will not use condi removals and he is gonna die this will most probably not gonna happen if they have brain
If I know that they have been standing on the point for a while then I tend to summon my worm on the point itself. It triggers all the traps without any interupts or damage to me. I think it’s a good trade.

Like this one!
Dropping Wurm for Rise can help a lot with DHs. The one spawned directly on the DH will pop his first set of traps. The spawned one on you stands a chance of popping the second set if he drops that immediately. IF one stays alive, it will also help you mitigate the damage of his bow / GS.
Your scepter will kill him faster than he kills you, if you’re dodging his true shots instead of using your dodges to pop traps. Also be sure to walk out of Symbol of Energy and Hunter’s Ward. You really don’t want to get held in place by the latter, but you don’t need to use a dodge for it either.
If same skill level, he’s 9/10 going to land Spear of Justice, since he wants to wait out your dodges. Try to get Infusing Terror up between your dodges and before he drops his second set of traps. That may save you from the pull.
(Rise also helps a boatload against Revenants and Thieves, but is worse if you’re against team makeups that can just burst down your horrors quickly).

I was going to say rise.
Usually i dont have a problem beating dhs who sit on a point. I have, however, problems to hold a point against dhs. ThEy can put so much damage pressure on point that it’s really difficult to defend it 1v1
Stand out of the point, LoS True Shot and just condi rekt them
Spam Mark of Blood and Chillblains under him, LoS, SoV and Locust Signet if he doesn’t have Aegis. No hurry here, you win over time. Build up Life Force, poke him. Once he uses Contemplation or F3 you can engage in melee, but I beat DHs without getting into melee at all.
I believe you can also spawn Flesh Wurm on top of traps to clear them, but haven’t tested this one. There was no need.
If there’s any LoS, you’re condition and it’s 1v1, DHs are probably the easiest target aside from Warrior.

Thank you all for the input. I’ve tried it against a few DHs today and I seem to be doing better. Less problem with traps once I stay at range and bait out their pull / shield / invulns. Bow isn’t an issue with LoS either. Previously I was trying to knock them out as soon as possible since they have the point and I needed it uncapped, but I guess there’s no use if I end up dying anyway. Taking it slow is definitely better.
They were significantly unskilled though, so we’ll see when I match up with stronger DHs.
Would be nice if there was a PVP guide on dealing with every class. Q_Q My next QQ thread will probably be hating on scrappers.

This happens a lot, and you’re absolutely right there. Theres no point on holding/uncapping a point if you’re gonna die. Its always better to take your time and win the 1v1 (obviously not if it takes A LOT of time), letting the enemy uncap or even cap the point for half a minute is worth if this makes you win the 1v1

Up to ruby most of the dhs ive encountered are pretty bad. I know because i use a dh too, from time to time, and i beat most of them.
I used to have allot of problems with them on my necro when I ran the meta.
I eventually switched my build to http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vRAQNArYWnc0A12glbCebC0biFcBLuK2FHjQXtAwBgKNEHiWA-TJhBwAROFAAeCA42f4bZAA
The protection from spectral armor, & damage reduction from rise help out quite a bit with surviving burst.
If you miss having extra boon corrupt that will be addressed Tuesday with the patch that buffs scepter.
