Flesh Golem
Trait can give him +50% HP. Another trait gives you 30% shorter cooldown. Most of time you can have your golem beside you.
Keeping him alive in PvE when its only you and him is hard, because he’ll probably take all the aggro. If you don’t want to run more minions, then just realize he’s going to die a lot (the other elites are pretty meh in levelling anyway).
I keep him alive (realize this is PvP) with Well of Blood and Mark of Evasion, with high healing power (heals him for 5.6k and 1.4-1.6k). If you are running staff, permanent regen is pretty easy and nice.
What’s really annoying (and I hope they will fix it soon) is that the golem takes a LOT longer to get out out of combat and start to regenerate

Never had a problem with my flesh golem dieing. Probably because I treat is as disposable wrecking ball. Really the only time it dies quickly for me is when I send it charging through a massive group of mobs or a champ, and even then it lasts a good while.
You have to remember though the flesh golem levels with you and dont treat it like a ranger treats its pets, the flesh golem is a disposable minion for an easy distraction not a guardian replacment.
Don’t take minions to dungeons. It’s a waste of utility/elite slot as they’ll be dead in a couple of seconds.
Its a crappy minion until you have enough points to trait it for +HP and then your entire build will revolve around minion support. Also it likes to stand still bird watching most of the time :/ If this was Blizzard minion AI would have been hot patched ‘fix’ months ago.

This is very true. I had selected the Flesh Golem early on in my leveling in PvE because I had hoped he could help carry me through. Well, that’s not true, because he does aggro everything and generally dies pretty quickly (even in the mid-lower level zones).
That said, Lich form works really well at high-level PvE zones for me. Flesh Golem serves a purpose. If you are going to go for a minion build, then the Flesh Golem can really win out when you trait for minions. However, if you are using him as your only minion, I’d suggest getting a different elite.
It’s either some server lag and/or just the buggy AI but I find if you start a fight with mobs at a distance and expect him to run up and tank, the FG is likely to stand around doing nothing 90% of the time.
I find it easier to keep the golem alive and in the fight if, instead of treating him like a tank, you run right up to the mobs yourself and spam your auto-attack for a second, that seems to get the golem swinging ASAP, then you can unload your marks without having to worry about aiming really and you both get regen from mark of blood.
