Frustrated with Necro
Want to hear the sad part for me? No. Oh… oh well ;P
I went and rerolled a Thief cause I’m mad at necros (sad face)
I went back to necro because it’s my play style… so I’m stuck with a broken play style that’s high stress and low quality of life lol… WTH YO! WTH!!!
At least my football team has Peyton Manning!!! So at least I’ve got that to look forward too lol
I got a mesmer and engineer up to level 45, a thief to level 30.
I’m having so much more fun with my level 23 necromancer than any of the above.
It might be because I don’t care what people on this forum say about the class and make my own opinions about it.
I have a Necromancer at 80, a Thief at 22, a Guardian at 12, a Warrior at 10, an Engineer at 9, a Mesmer at 7, and a Ranger at 6. The Necromancer in full Exotic gear, whose playstyle I have greatly enjoyed, is now shelved because any of those others I listed have substantially better return value for time invested; the Necromancer is so very ineffectual, even at the things they’re supposed to specialize in.
I got more kills (did more damage, applied more pressure, contributed more to my team’s efforts, etc) with a level 6 Ranger yesterday in a 30-minute grand melee where 60 of us sieged a keep with 20 defenders and 30 counter-attackers outside than I normally do during a whole night of active WvW with my Necromancer.
It may be fun to feel unique because you’re playing that one-off profession that very few others are playing and you can finagle some use out of it, but in the end you’d simply be more effective at accomplishing whatever objective you’re going for by using any number of other options.

Pls give Anet the TIme to fix the class They are on it and i think in a week or so the major bugs will be gone.
Afterwards we have to find out how strong a Necro can be.
PS: Now i feel a little like waiting for headstart

What is the problem with Necromancers?
I have a necro at 80 and I have zero issues with the playstyle. WvW I can hold out against a larger force for longer than any other class, I can kill one vs one without issues against most classes. Nothing in PvE can hurt me unless I am trying stuff that I know is out of my range.
What is the issue people are having with the Necromancers?
Time? They had time. The forum was full of complains about necro since the very first beta. That they did to fix it? Nothing. Literally almost every skill is broken, you know where the list is. The things that we supposed to be best at – all other classes do much better than we are.
It’s just absurd how much easier thieves’ gameplays is, for instance. It seems, that after suffering so much as a necro I can become a ridiculous good thief. Good. I’m intend to do so and abuse the class the hell of it.
But for the love of whatever you love, stop this anet-fanboyism nonsense.
I rerolled a while ago
after playing warrior, I think ANet could un-kitten the necros and I wouldnt give akitten Im not going back.
I left the class out of desperation to never come back.
good job right there, Jon Peters

There seems to be a few buggy traits and a few totally useless ones like Jagged Horror and Protection of the Horde. (Okay so protection is good, but only for a minion build, I want toughness without being forced to use minions.)
Other than that, the class is very fun, unlike a warrior or thief, we can easily kill, kite and maim groups of six enemies without dropping below 90%
@Ramza – I agree, minions are bugged and not working correctly but overall I believe many people are just not learning how to run a Guild Wars 2 necro, they expect it to play like other Necromancers in other games and they are not.
I could not stand the Necro in GW1, hated it. I love the GW2 necro.
This is so frustrating, I don’t want to reroll, but I may have too.
I’ve already rerolled, just go for it and join the rest of the necromancer population who have realized this class is sub-par.
@ Tilron – Yeah, same bout gw1.
This character I can reliably kill 7 enemies at once without breaking a sweat.

Mesmer clones don’t count.
@Ramza Anyone can kite / kill 7 melee monsters, you should go Orr and try the same with 7 ranged / magic mobs.
Thats when some of those frustating moments comes in, like when your pets do not attack at all…

Sticking with the necro when it is bad #Angbadang
@They are hashes – My roommate who sits at his computer right next to mine has a level 80 ele. So does that answer your question?
When we are grouped in WvW, he has to run out of battle to regen and live. He will come back and I will still be fighting away. He makes this comment all the time “kitten, your still alive” That says everything you need to know about how to play the Necromancer class.
I see the big picture, once more people understand how to play a Necromancer in GW2, the more people are going to claim its OP, not UP. (They do need to fix some of the traits and the minions)
How many of you current Necro’s are using DS correctly? Do you stay in it until you are out of life force or do you switch in and out of DS as required?
Do you use lich form? When?
I do not have the best DPS but I can survive for a long long time and that creates problems for other professions in group settings (Which is what PvP should always be balanced for.)
I normally run with my roommate’s 80 ele and my guild leaders 80 warrior. The 3 of us can take on any 3 other classes and win the majority of the time.

It’s pretty easy to kill 7 melee 80s in Orr with Wells, Conditions, and Epidemic. However, I don’t really have much to base on how other professions would handle this.
I can solo the Champion Giant that throws out tons of grubs, and I’ve seen others die to the encounter when in a group, so that should say something.

Oh… he was talking about PvE. I see.
I love the people that come into these sorts of threads and say something to the effect of “Necros are fine noobs! I do so good in WvW and World Events!”
Really? You do fine in giant zergs against mediocre players? How absolutely shocking.
Try doing some content that actually takes some skill, like sPvP / tPvP or the dungeon paths that everyone is not farming. Then come back and say that Necros are on the same level as everyone else.
Also, being able to press Signet of Spite and then Epidemic followed by “kiting” (aka running around in DS while things die) is not an achievement. It’s the only play-style you are built to preform with.

Nobody is winning anything close to a 7v1 in PvP vs anyone that isn’t afk.

Yet another “I cannot do well, so you guys are lying” Post.
Who cares about Spvp or Tpvp. PvE, WvW and Dungeons are the only thing that matters to me and my Necro does just fine in all 3 of those arena’s.
If I wanted to play battleground pvp games, I would not have switched away from the other MMOs that ofter that type of pvp.

He didn’t specify 7v1. I had this impression he was going to share an anecdote about how every time he unloads his cooldowns he can kill 7 people in a WvW zerg with wells/staff or epidemic AoE. They can offer some decent pressure in that scenario, but it even then it ain’t that good lol.

This is the best written articulation of my feelings I have seen yet.
Agree 100%, because it’s the truth. =(

Perhaps you should spend less time playing MMOs and more time learning how to read. I clearly didn’t say I don’t do well nor did I say anyone was lying. I am saying the content that people are referring to is irrelevant to overall game balance.
No one cares about WvW balance. It does not take any skill to spam Epidemic and Staff skills into a herd of bads.
No one cares about World Event balance. It is not hard to kill 1 mob with 70 people. It takes an incredibly small amount of skill.
And unless you are referring to the actual difficult dungeon paths (not Magg runs or story modes) then no one cares about the balance in those either.
People care about SPvP and TPvP because that’s where game balance actually shows. People care about their performance vs others in high end dungeons because that’s where game balance matters.
Saying Necro’s aren’t broken because of PvE and WvW when everyone else is talking about why Necro’s are broken in sPvP is equivocating… at best.
@Navi – I do not care about Spvp or Tpvp balance, they mean zero to me. WvW and PvE (PvE including dungeons fyi) matter to me about balance and Necromancers are good in these two area’s
Why balance a class based on arena pvp when only a small section of players are going to play that mode compared to the other modes? If you want to play PvP arena’s there are many games that balance classes for that type of game play. Go play LoL if you want balanced arena PvP or other games like that. This game main focus is PvE and it should remain that way.
I like how you get to decided which is more important because you think sPvP and Tpvp are important, you think the rest does not matter, I disagree. I think spvp and tpvp are useless mini games, why balance a game based on a mini game?
WvW and PvE balance matter more to me than s PvP Epen.is Arena’s that have zero baring on the game and are nothing more than a mini game.
Also, since we can agree that the class has bugs and is not yet working at 100%, nobody can say that Necromancers are not balanced for Spvp and Tpvp until our stuff is fixed.
@QSpec – I am making a point that unlike these others, I do not believe the Necromancer class is a useless class, far from it in my opinion.

I could still agree with what you are saying while disagreeing with you. I won’t jump into a PvE argument. I frankly don’t enjoy it that much. I won’t speak to how we do in WvW because it is just a huge zerg. For the sake of this argument, I will grant you that we are okay in both PvE and WvW.
I will still make the claim that we are broken beyond just a few bug fixes (as far as sPvP is concerned).

You do not get to say how the game will be balanced either. A.Net has stated that the Prof will be balanced around tPVP 5v5. So WvW does not matter. PVE does not matter.
@Navi – I do not care about Spvp or Tpvp balance, they mean zero to me. WvW and PvE (PvE including dungeons fyi) matter to me about balance and Necromancers are good in these two area’s
So your view is completely bias. You are formulating your opinions on a profession as a whole based on game modes that do not require much balance for success. The types of content that do require balance are suffering but this is okay for you because you do not actively partake in that content (yet still feel the need to comment on it with your irrelevant views).
Why balance a class based on arena pvp when only a small section of players are going to play that mode compared to the other modes? Because sPvP and tPvP is where professions need to be balanced, where you are competing against other players and other professions. Flip your statement around and you can see how much of a hypocrite you are being.
“Why balance around WvW and Events when only a [insert made up numerical reference here] number of players are going to be doing that content.” The profession needs to be balanced for all content in the game, and not with just 1 build but to be on par with other professions.
Also, please provide a source for the bolded part or else that is complete BS. There is more evidence for this game being a PvP game than there is for it being a PvE game and even still that doesn’t mean the developers should be balancing for one type of content and not the others.
I like how you get to decided which is more important because you think sPvP and Tpvp are important, you think the rest does not matter, I disagree. I think spvp and tpvp are useless mini games, why balance a game based on a mini game?
I like how you didn’t take my advice and still don’t seem to know how to read. I am not saying one is more important than the other I am saying balance isn’t as necessary in certain types of content comparative to others.
WvW and PvE balance matter more to me than s PvP Epen.is Arena’s that have zero baring on the game and are nothing more than a mini game.
This is probably one of the most mind-meltingly asinine things I have read on these forums to date.
1) This game doesn’t have arena
2) SPvP =/= Minigame
3) This game is various parts that make a whole and all of them need to be balanced
You accuse me of saying x form of content is more important than y form of content and then go on to say this. Hypocrisy at its finest.
Also, since we can agree that the class has bugs and is not yet working at 100%, nobody can say that Necromancers are not balanced for Spvp and Tpvp until our stuff is fixed.
Anyone with half a brain can say we are not balanced for SPvP and TPvP because we have vast quantity of bugs and besides those our scaling and various mechanics are not up to par with other professions.
Necro isnt broken. in PVE it does the best of all the classes for solo grind, explore whatever you want to do.
in pvp they are just fine. I have not seen a single bug in them so I dont know what class your playing.
Saying Necro’s aren’t broken because of PvE and WvW when everyone else is talking about why Necro’s are broken in sPvP is equivocating… at best.
the funniest part is that they are completly broken in PvE too
but some people are happy if they can kill 5 normal mobs in less than a minute, without realizing other classes can kill those same 5 mobs plus a veteran in a tenth the time, without breaking a sweat or even using more than 3 key presses.
and they dont care they always get bronce/no contribution in events due to the bleed stack or the hilariously low power damage
in a nutshell, some people are happy with sucking
let them be
I love my Necro but I’ll admit that sometime the damage can feel a little underwhelming. I don’t mind trading damage for survivability but it seems a little unbalanced.
My biggest peeve is with death shroud. I like jumping in and out, I definitely don’t just use it as a panic button, but I find myself wanting to use it less and less since my conditions will drop off. It’s not a massive deal but I would like it to synergise just a bit more.

I’m playing [ https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/necromancer/Necromancer-bugs-compilation-1/first ] this profession. What game are you playing?
I’m really not understanding where all the doom and gloom from necro’s is coming from. I’ve been bobbing back n forth between my Ele and Necro and I think Ele is definately in a worse state.
Survivability, dmg, utility is not bad for necro’s at all. Traits may still be crappy but traits are awful for every class atm, although I would probably agree Necro is the worst in this area. Other than Axe being terribad, and minions (I never use them) it’s not bad.
Ranger’s also have alot of crappy traits and few interesting or viable trait builds, but also have WAY less selection of useful or interesting utilities. Along with pet bugs of their own and weapon skills being kinda boring I’d say Rangers are in a worse spot.
