I don’t know if someone else thought about this, but don’t you think that life force should be full when out of combat?

In other words, it should be filled from the start, not the other way around. This way we never feel like we need to kill something to fill it up, and we won’t be at a disadvantage whenever a fight starts. Will this makes us OP? No, because we still have the 8 seconds cooldown (5 seconds if trait-ed). They even could make the self regeneration of life force take place when out of combat, this way during the fight you will still need whatever you use to fill the life force back up.

This is pretty much equal to someone who kills few enemies, to fill the life force, before engaging a main fight (Boss in dungeon/ player in WvW or PvP). If this process makes a Necro OP, then it means they never should lose a fight if they start with full Life Force, which isn’t the case at all.

Please do not compare with any other class, I know all about warriors and adrenaline, and it is different in all the aspects.

What are your thoughts on this?

I always thought it should be, yes. However if they give us more/better ways to gain life force in the next balance patch it may not be an issue. I think what would help is if it had a natural regen on top of life force stealing abilities. It may or may not help and that runs the risk of perma-death shroud coming around again or at the very least DS every ten seconds.

We’ll have to wait and see what they give us in the next patch before we can really ask for this though. Hell it may be what they do anyway.

I’m not asking for in battle life regeneration, or this might cause people to disregard using LF regeneration skills/utilities. I’m just asking to start every fight with full LF instead of whatever left from previous fight. Basically nothing changes during the fight.

I always thought it was really unfair for us to start with 0 life force, especially in tPvP where you can’t generate it by killing random mobs/crit.

One of the reason why I’m stuck taking Soul Mark when doing tPvP.

I just wish we could have 10-15% LF at the start of tpvp just enough for us to be able use fear or dark path at the initial fight…

Having full LF at the start of each fight is too much in my opinion… but a way to sacrifice our own health for some life force with a reasonable cooldown would be great and i think it quite fits with the whole concept of life force.

Perhaps a 10% heath turns into 10% LF with 30 sec cooldown as an F2 ability…

Why? Why would it be?

We are balanced around using Death Shroud.

Personally, even with full DS, I don’t go in a fight thinking : “Man easy fight”.

With full DS, I know I start on equal footing.

With an empty bar, I feel like I start with an handicap.

In WvW, I start each fight with full LF, and I have yet to see anyone call out necro for being OP in WvW because of DS.

What about a 1% passive regen on LF? Out of combat only.

Or even like you said, starting the map with 50% would be good for me. As long as I don’t have to start a fight with no defense mecanism. (gotta love when Burst thief jump you without LF).

let me ask u something and u ll see my point soon…
How would u feel if there was no DS mechanic but u had a base of 29k health?

LF pool is about 60% of our total health (if i remember correctly). We have a base of around 18k health so with the extra 60% from DS we end up with 28.8k health without any bonuses from gear and traits. Dont u think that this is too much?
I know its not the same, but i think that u get my point…

This is why i say that having 100% LF at the start of every fight is not balanced…

A passive out of combat LF regeneration would be great though. Even if the regeneration stops when we reach 50% LF i d be more than happy.

Yet even with full LF, and full bunker build, Guardian are better bunker then us.

Why is that? They have a low HP base pool?

Well they have more mitigation, more substain, more defence mecanism.

Necromancer are build around having that much HP, because they lack any kind of escape mecanism/mitigation/dodge ect..

So in WvW, where I can keep my LF at 100% everytime I’m out of combat, I would be “too much”? Like I said, I don’t see anyone hating necromancer because they have too much tankness in WvW.

But yeah, I’m not asking for a full LF after each fight. I’m asking for a slow LF regen out of combat.

But anyway, we will see next patch. They said in the SotG that they were looking into our LF generation.

The initial post was about 100% LF when out of combat thats why i mentioned it, i know u didnt ask for it and i also agreed about the out of combat LF regeneration.

Anyway i have my opinion, you have yours.
I think that LF force is pretty much fine they way it is now and as i said before all i want is some LF at the start of tournaments… thats all.

We only gain good amounts when everything dead. It’d be nice to have a % of dam you do going to life force, so your constantly building it in combat. I know we have a few % on some weap ability, but it’s lots faster gain using power based weaps to conditions.

Anyway, I’d enjoy building, burning, building, burning. In combat.

It’s personally ‘interrupts’ on Litch Form/Mist getting a full multi-min CD. Also on elite skills, pet get’s wet, full CD.

On CDs making us week at start of combat, it’d also be nice to have minions off CD at res. Other games I played, even give you your pets back so you don’t have to go res them again. Not, oh you died, wait another min in this ‘close round pvp’ before you get your power back. (While having no DShroud till others die around you ontop).

Full Life force is a bit strong, but I agree we should have at least 10%, or a better way to instantly get that 10 (without glitching Flesh Golem).

So basically, if I’m roaming WvW with full life force, I should be able to 1 on 1 anyone I meet? I highly doubt so, I might last a little longer, but in no way I’m guaranteed a win. This is why I don’t think it is OP even if it was full. Otherwise Arenatnet would have made Life Force be emptied out after each fight, but it isn’t the case, Anet left us with the ability to start fights with full LF, we only need to fill it up. The way we soak damage is through using DS, heck our only protection buff from utility is on 90 Seconds cooldown. Always starting a fight with more “HP” is our way to mitigate damage.

Maybe another suggestion would be having life force regenerate to 50% when out of combat? You don’t have your full LF, you have enough to use whatever DS skills at the start, and it will be kind of fair in any PvP situation. Although I still hope for the full one.

The 10% LF suggestion is almost useless, anyone with a little damage can deny you from using any skill as soon as u enter DS. This is why 50% is more guaranteed to last a little longer.

Actually, that makes more sense than anything =o

If the necro started with 100% lifeforce it’d be able to access that as a secondary bar, making the lack of other survivability perfectly sustainable. Then, to continue sustaining damage, the Necro would need to build LF back up again artificially. I would LOVE to see tanky necros with the ability to… you know, actually tank.

Then after the battle, the necro regenerates to 100% lifeforce again. Just like a normal health bar.

In that way, all of those “gain lifeforce” effects are actually HEALS.
