Since i got 5 maxed toons i relegated my condition necro just to WvW. She is equipped with a full C/P/T set even jewelry to reach the maximum condition damage but i started wondering if it shouldn’t be better to mix c/p/t with some power+cond gear, its seems that stacking prec and cond at certain point is not that profitable.

Ideas more than welcomed. Have in mind it is just and exclusively for WvW only

What sigils are you running. If you don’t have at least 2 Earth sigils, then I would definitely consider adding in some power instead of precision. Precision is adding split damage between direct and condi, but with full condition damage already, your damage is leveraged dangerously high into conditions, which mean in fights with high cleansing or any 1v1 build high on cleansing, it can really neuter your DPS.

Full C/P/T is also next to worthless vs siege, which can be annoying.

Yes, using earth sigils to take crit/bleed advantage and that char it is not used to roam, only for zerging purpose. My doubts come from the fact that after certain point escalation in stats seems to not worth it, thats why im tempted to mix c/p/t with c/p/v

I just wanted to stack toughness because of that trait which convert toughness into power and specially the runes which converted 5% toughness into condition damage so i could reach the maximum amount of condition damage plus high critical chance to stack more bleedings per trait and sigil but now i am not sure of it anymore

It will not hurt too much to experiment with a few alternative pieces.

At the end of the day you have to play your character and having fun while doing so is a very important factor.

If a couple of pieces are swapped out for another that makes your game play improve then do it.

I for one hate to play glass cannons. Ten years ago my reflexes were much better than they are now. I have made adjustments so I can survive in fights and still remain viable.

I swap out pieces for an extra push of power or crit and try to find a nice balance that suits my play style while still allowing me to enjoy my game.

I like to go full PTV in WvW. In a zerg u just pop DS and u will hit like a truck. On the other and i wont do much in range. But the reason i switched to full PTV its because i feel that most good players in WvW have atleast one skill to remove conditions and with so much guardians that give regen to his allies your conditions will be pretty much surpassed. DD+Focus or Axe+Focus + Staff ftw with me

If you usually play in a zeg or party/group, conditions are not viable. Too many guardians that cleanse every one. No time to stack / spread / do damage.

There’s one advantage to full Rabid spec on a Necromancer. Namely, with the Profession’s high base Health, one can more easily choose to focus on Toughness.
As far as being weak versus siege/objects in general, it’s a tradeoff there. Do you plan on roaming, or group/zerg fights? For the first, Condimancers are workable, but you’re going to have some issue with heavy Condition-cleaners.
Fact is, (as much as I myself stay pure Condition), something like P/V/T or a Knight/Cavalier combo would probably work better for solo business. OTOH, a Condimancer in a group can work pretty well, if you’re playing the Corrupt Boon/Epidemic card, Marks, and Plague. (However, rogerwilko is right about cleanses there. You’d have to space your Conditions out a tad, make the other group burn their cleanses, then shred their behinds down.)

The TL;DR version is pretty much: Best bet’s to experiment, find the EQ/Skills balance that works best for you, specifically. I’m currently Carrion Armour/Rampager Weapons/Rabid Trinkets … feels a bit too glassy for me, especially with limited access to Stability. YMMV

I just started playing necromance in WvW. I went full rabid (well almost, I still need some trinkets and my rings are ascended rampager^^). But it’s a lot of fun. Especially Zerg fights. You swith through ur enemies and don’t even have to apply bleeds urself, for there are pretty much bleeds flying arround already from others. And then you found one with 10-15 stacks of bleed and blow every bleed, you can apply in some secs, on him and hit epidemic. You’ll see like trillions of numbers from the bleeds you trhew arround. It is just awesome. Seconds later, peoplle start get downed. A full condition Necro is a huge improvment on a Zerg.

Regarding raoming issues. Well, I still have to get used to it. Thieves are no issue at all (my galss canon mesmer had more work dealing with them). But I think with some practice a full Rabid Necro can be very good in small scale engagments and 1v1.

Full Rabid is actually good in a zerg. You know those Guardians everyone’s talking about who like to cleanse conditions? Corrupt Boon —> Epidemic = 6 seriously screwed-over enemy players with enough condition damage. And of course your staff outputs a crazy amount of condition damage if you have the Terror trait (and you should).

I run full rabid, and its about the only condition set I can consider, because of the effectiveness of Reapers Precision. Short frequent bleeds are very hard to counter, and are guaranteed damage.

The down side, is that your Sceptor 3 hits like a wet noodle, and is arguably not worth even using, compared to an extra sceptor auto attack, unless they have lots of conditions on and you are low on LF.

If you choose to ignore and leverage reapers prec. and earth sigils, then yeah, full carrion is the way to go. If you have longer duration bleeds (upwards of 60% duration), I prefer rabid.

I haven’t even got my full PTV gear yet (though I think I’ve got enough badges tonight for the last piece, once I add them together) and for a while I was running around in rare explorer’s just because it was what I had, and built for conditions because I was bored and felt like it. Guardians and elementalists have been by far my favourite targets even with that gear on… I’d find one which had just underlined its name with a row of boons, and it was like flipping a switch. In one skill they’d go from tanking and evading loads of incoming damage to being trampled into the dirt. If they didn’t have a satisfactory amount of buffs on, all I had to do was start applying conditions with marks/sceptre and soon they’d co-operatively produce a row of new boons. Some of those conditions didn’t even come from me originally, thanks to staff #4.

One thing though: I don’t find those guys all that great for epidemic most of the time. I mean by all means spam it at whoever gets your attention because A) it tags people, and B) 12-15s cooldown. Just keep in mind that all those converted things don’t tend to have huge lifespans, while if you build up conditions on a target yourself, or find one friendlies have focused (esp if downed, people run toward them and they often carry loads of conditions) you can put stuff on people that will either force them to use skills to be rid of it, or lead to their situation rapidly deteriorating into ‘loot’.

Full rabid and 100% fear duration works like charm. Only problem is find “best” targets inside enemy zerg. They often die before infection cast is ready.

If you just do zerg i don’t feel like full rabid stuff is usefull, i mean you put too much in toughness and since in pve you can get so much vital force easily i don’t like it. I do some change and get that : http://www.hostingpics.net/viewer.php?id=655160gw018.jpg
With blood is power i go to 3300 + dps and 24% crit damage give me a lot of burst, when i use my combo after death shroud (who give me fury ), i can up to 2000 + condition damage and each bleed do 140 dps (when i was playing full rabid my best was 150… so no difference at all but i got an awesome burst ! The more you put in condition damage the less it will up )

It’s not so bad when running Rabid gear. I find it crits for ~1.2k, which isn’t spectacular but it’s still a modest DPS increase, and it crits more often than it doesn’t. Against bosses who are having conditions applied by a bunch of people, it can hit like a truck, though.

Can’t say I enjoyed running Rabid in WvW on my necro. it didn’t really fit my style, so i ended up just running full knights with a mix of weaponry and acc (Knight exotic ring and earring with zerker bottom half, zerker ascended neck and earring, zerk/valk ring). I have another set of condit, but personally i rather go hybrid as after a certain point that condition damage starts being not worth it and its better to get duration and power.

There is not soft or hard cap on conditions…. I have no idea what Alokio was saying.

I have had bleeds tick in the high 170’s in dungeons, and routinely in the 160’s.

There is an argument to be made about how well two stats that effect the damage of something match up against three stats… but that is a different discussion. As condition users, you just have to accept there are only two stats that can help damage.

It takes 20 condition damage to up your bleeds by just 1 damage… so as long as you keep that in mind it is pretty linear.
