here is a lit of weapons i could see the necro use

Scythe – 2h
crossbow – 2h
short sword – main
tome / book – off hand

thats all i got for now , what other weapons do you think the necro could use ?

Staff Rifle – 2h
Pistol Dagger – 1h/off hand

Everyone is constantly saying they want new weapons but you have to remember that if a weapon is implemented it would have to be something multiple classes could use. That being said I would love a Scythe, and also I love your Tome/Book idea.

I think a two-handed axe would be pretty cool.

Hehe was thinking if they allowed Necro’s to use great swords then we could use Twilight. That would be pretty sweet xD

here is to hoping they add a scythe with a twilight blade to it

Kamas – make more sense on necromancer then axe ever could.
Scythe – well… for lack of better explanation a much larger kama used with 2 hands.
Kryss – makes more sense then a dagger on a necromancer.
Spelltome while sounds fitting… anets idea of how weapons work would not be applicable here. I have a hard time imagining attack with a book… Twack someone and cause severe nosebleed and daze? And rip the cover off and scatter pages creating a cover for a speedy escape?

But its anet… with their asian necromancer. So you are more likely to get a blowgun that shoots insects ala d3 style epileptic witch doctor from the swamps.

the book would be spells your character has to read out for the attack to work . after all they do have focus and warhorn

Both warhorn attacks you blow into it… to either daze your oponents with your terrible music or conjure up mosquitos that make you run fast by chasing after you. Only guardians read books >_>

It would be pretty cool if the auto on the Staff for necro turned into a cleaving melee weapon while in close range while rocking the scythe effect.
Something similar to guardian greatsword 1.

That would be better than implementing a whole new scythe weapon. ;p

Unless you completely turn the staff upside down, I don’t see these changes making a large enough splash with power necromancers. Anything short of giving necromancer a greatsword will most likely just fall short.

I want a proper power necromancer as much as the next guy because dropping 2 of my utilities or DS4 for any semblance of a reliable aoe really gets to me.

I’ve never been able to find out the name of the type of weapon but ever since I saw one of The Mummy movies (think 2nd film)… There was one of the bad guys (Anubis warriors or something). necro , dervish , some other class

I think Scythe is a little too niche-y… Yeah it’d be perfect for a Necro who wants to melee, and could potentially give Necros a cleave, but to me it’d be out of place with every other class. I really liked the crossbow idea, and feel that it’d be fitting for more than just our class (Guardian, Thief, Ranger, Ele, and Engi come to mind). Problem is, these classes already have decent or good ranged options (well, maybe not Guards) – as do we – and what would the purpose of adding another be when some of the existing ones could be tweaked around more?

Shortsword maybe, but it’d have to fill some sort of gap between dagger and axe, which, is there one? We currently have main hand weapons that stack bleeds (scepter), vuln (axe), do great single-target DPS (dagger), and offer amazing utility (staff). Again, the only thing they could add to a melee weapon to distinguish it from the others we can use is cleaving.

Book/tome: isn’t this a focus? Or would this be MH/2H? Eles would be the only other class to pair with such a weapon, and even then, I feel like Eles are more your typical classic Sorcerer (casting from the hip) than Wizard (casting from something written, like a book or scroll)…

Though I’m of the mindset that our weapons are good – not great – where they stand, I definitely wouldn’t complain about being able to cleave and hit multiple targets with SOMETHING or have a 900-1,200 range weapon with a quick, punchy auto attack. And by that I mean the crossbow, which would essentially be a ranged version of the dagger (single-target hard hitting with little to no condition stacking).

2h Sword: Melee range cleaving attacks. A mix of bone themed attacks with standard physical attacks. For one of it’s long cd skills I’d like to see a bone spear out that stuns and deals high dmg to the first enemy it hits.

Mainhand Focus for a more “caster” like attacks for single targets at long range.

Probably will never be a scythe, they already have em in the game. They are considered staffs.

Cosmetic options can easily be put in the game as such…example. (i want a 2hnd axe)
arenanet puts in a 2hnd sword that looks like an axe….etc.

What you should be considering is why you want X weapon. What role would it fullfill that the current weapons do not.

I think the only thing necros are missing is a weapon entirely dedicated to large amounts of power damage preferably in the form of a 2hnder.

Right now, we have axe and dagger. Neither does amazing damage by itself, and the offhands are not very well built around powerful damage attacks.

Then you have to ask, SHOULD necromancers have access to this? If they did how would it be designed to work with DS? (vomited a little). and what strengths should it have to keep it in line with what a necromancer should do.

Anyway, just food for thought.

They already said they are going to add 2h axe to that game.So i’m sure Necro will get it.

I hope they do cause we really need a melee cleave weapon.

I remember them saying this about 2hnd axe or atleast hinting heavily at it….but it was many many months ago.

You guys do realise you can get focus skins which are tomes/books? Plus some of the other weapons mentioned can also come under skins for daggers and so on. Any kind of non magical range weapon would not fit the necro at all. So that rules out pistols/crossbows/rifles. I would however like to see a more dps based cleave melee weapon. So that would either be the sword main hand or a 2h axe/scythe. And if they do added a 2h axe. There will most likely be scythe and polearm skins for it.
