Im building a condition-mancer, but the gear is just downright ridiculous for one piece 17g?..

Any alternatives?

Thats the problem, I rarely do dungeons – Im purely wvw

You can get rabid armor and weapons with WvW badges now; check the merchants. Also orr temples have 4 out of 6 pieces of rabid stat armor and exotic rabid back, ring and accessories for karma in dwayna’s.

Karma, Badges of Honor, HotW tokens, TA tokens, CM tokens, or gold. Choose your currency. :> Not to mention laurels and pristine fractal relics for Ascended pieces.

Can you transmute new skins on them? I know with the old soldiers gear you got with badges it wouldn’t let you transmute anything on it.

This. Roll with a good, organized zerg-wiping guild group and you will have a full set of Rabid equipment in a matter of days. The amount of knowledge you acquire about your class, its role in the metagame and general WvW strategy is absolutely invaluable to anything you’d learn in your time grinding some of the game’s worst dungeons for hours on end.

Bought 3/6, and all trinkets with Karma. And the other 3/6 with badges… Currently using Rare (yellow weps) until I decide to shell out the badges, or farm TA. Also tramsuted my set with the dry bone skin from badges.

I crapped my pants at the prices as you did, but just yesterday I lucked out and found the temple open. Also had a stash of karma boosters and 60+ jugs to use to get the right amount for everything in one go. Bought it all, then once I hit 80 I had full gear.

I have no idea about the gear acquired with badges, but yes I have transmuted the karma armor I obtained from orr temples with other armor like order specific ones and cultural pieces across many of my characters so I do believe it is possible.

Yes, you can. It works with weapon too.

Rabid gear can indeed be bought in WvW now. A full set is 950 Badges & 5g 45s. On a good day i can farm around 300 badges in WvW with bunker blind.

HotW and SE path 1 each is quick, easy and readily done with pugs. Use gw2lfg.com and you can get full rabid gear in a weekend. Also, as others have said you can get rings, necklace and accessories for karma at the dwayna temple. Buy yellow versions for a few silver in the mean time and rabid crest go for under 5s through the TP.

Weapons are a little more expensive and harder to get. If you don’t want to grind dungeons for them, I found that by the time I had enough tokens to buy a few rabid armor pieces I also accumulated enough gold to buy a staff or sceptre from the TP. The dagger I think was under 6g when I bought it.
