Due to the recent outcry against the nerf bat punishment our class is receiving, I started to theorycraft a build to embody the spirit of the necromancer at this time – a ‘Glutton for Punishment’ build. The idea being, let the community focus their hate on us, focus fire us, and bring themselves down as they realize that we like it.

The following is meant to be a tanky WvW small team build, with an emphasis on finding as many sources of retaliation, protection, and weakness as possible.

I was thinking of making a DS build however instead of flashing it I want to be in it as long as possible while taking advantage of DS 1 skill. I’m still not sure of armour and sigils/runes. I was thinking valkyrie armour because DS scales with vitality I think, but then I would be missing out on precision and I need 50% with deathly perception for 100% crit chance. spectral armour + DS is pretty nice though.

I was originally thinking of doing a more permanent DS-based build, but that makes it more difficult to stack retaliation and protection. However, you could use dagger #5 + axe #3 + spectral armor just before sitting in DS for a little longer if you want to absorb a few more hits.

I’ve only looked a little into deathly perception builds, mostly before my necro hit 80, but I’d think that 90% crit in DS would not feel that much different from 100%. If you use a sigil of accuracy on a weapon, you can make up for the loss of a little precision.
