Just for kicks, I burned a BL ticket on the shadow great sword after logging in late last night. The hilt and blade shape look ugly but I figure on matching it with a Dry Bones armor skin. Made most of the components for an ascended GS, too, except for the insignia, which I will leave until I know what I want for stats.

What skins do you think will go well with your Necromancer? Post a pic’ and explain, please.

Im going to be splashing out on a lot of shadow skins when they drop in price and i have a bit more gold.

I tend to change my armour and dyes to suit the weapon skins i want. Ive never completely settled on skins. So no doubt ill change my mind again when HoT releases tons of new skins.

I had three GS’s in mind for my Charr necro:

1. Twilight
2. Sunless
3. Shadow

I had decided on Twilight, since I already have the skin, but then Shadow would look pretty nice for the theme. I just can’t decide if I like the skin or not.

I also nabbed the Shadow Greatsword skin. I think the grip and hilt are too long, but I am in love with the transluscent black blade.

Only one of the Shadow weapons I don’t like the look of is the warhorn. Not a fan of most warhorn skins, really.

Get multiple greatswords for different sigil choices.

Arah (undead + force)
Night time stuff (night + force)
Day time stuff (force + accuracy/frailty)

Yeah, that’s an idea spoj.

The Shadow GS is pretty cool Dranor, but I can’t get over how thin the handle is. But yeah, that blade is sweet.

Great suggestions, Spoj. Unfortunately, crafting is why I am always out of gold and materials. Ten sets of armor, two dozen trinkets, more weapons than I know what to do with… sigh. I have probably salvaged twice that much, too.

Sunless would look pretty good on a necromancer, as might cobalt and ascalon catacombs greatsword.

Will probably just use the Felblade until i can decide

I tried to snipe the shadow greatsword skin as soon as I could with the assumption that it would only rise in price. I plan to use that on my necro and I might even splurge on the shadow abyss dye eventually (that kitten looks amazing on arah armor)

I’m going for something different by using pact fleet weapon skins right now, in addition to buying a pact fleet GS skin for the future Necro specialization.

My Sylvari Necro’s theme has always been a ghostly or spirit oriented one. The pact fleet weapons are a nice mix of nature+tech+magic, that goes really well with my character’s blue/cyan glow, t3 cultural armor, toxic arms/shoulders, wraith mask and dynamic blades backpack. It also kind of adds to the whole Commander of the Pact theme as well.

Not to mention I always had a soft spot for the flagship at the end of the arah story path, which the pact fleet GS is of course designed off of. :p

If I had another race as my Necro or a more evil theme, I would definitely be picking up that new Shadow GS skin (probably the scepter and dagger too).

Going for the Warden skin personally…

Royal Ascalonian Greatsword will be fitting for my current Necromancer ^^

I’ll most likely get myself the Corrupted Avenger skin.

Already bought Dhuumseal and Naegling.

Chainsaw Greatsword

If you want the rusty, bloody look and don’t want to go for the Chainsaw, there are a bunch of choices, eg bandit Sunderer or pirate slayer.

If you want a glowy weapon, the King Toad Greatsword is the only one that glows green. If you want yellow, you can use the Zenith weapon skin. If you want magenta/pink then you go ith vision of the mists. If you want white and glowy there are a bunch of expensive choices like Foefire or Chaos, but the Jotun Greatsword is both stylish and cheap.

The crystal guardian is a good fractal greatsword substitute.

And, of course the legendary weapons exist, but even they don’t have as many shiny particles as the Volcanus.

Was gonna use the mordrem greatsword, but I changed my mind. If my necro still has the same look as she has now I might go with the mistforged hero greatsword.

I like the shadow warhorn for that exact reason; there isn’t much competition. I love the shadow skins, but I just wish they were a little larger on my Asura.

I’m not a big fan of over the top particle effects and perfer a more subdued look. My favorite necro skins so far are Shadow and Corrupted.

My choices right now are

Belinda’s, because my necro is a female human and it looks like something she could handle

Twilight, because the only reason i never went for it was I couldn’t use it on my necro

Chaos: looks nice on a black costumed necro.

Warden: one of my favorite skins

If my necro was a male, or a char, i’d seriously consider legionary.

You can also wield the weapon in preview, or do you mean there’s a difference in looks between the preview-window and in-game?

Preview doesnt do some weapons justice. Simply because you cant see the proper equip position etc. And the lighting is different.

A bit of a difference. The blade is longer in-game and the wielding pose is correct. Especially a thing for two-handers like greatswords.

I do like the Shadow Scepter and Dagger, but I’ve fallen in love with the Lidless Eye (and I want to upgrade it in the near future)…
But hmm.. that GS doesn’t look that bad either…

Dulfy is a great place to check for black lion skins for how they look in-game.

My necro has always had a dark regal look so I’ll probably use Belinda’s (if they make it available again), Belladonna or Nightmare GS. If one of the skills looks similar to Axe 2 I may just have to grab a Chaos GS.

Chiroptophobia with the Noble Count outfit for a perfect vampire style. Now we just need life siphon to be viable.

dhuumseal is pretty awesome, however I think twilight is probably the winner.

I themed my necro with ambrite weapons and made gs for it. So I’m ready Hehe

Call me traditional, but the Vanguard greatsword has always been my favorite. It looks sleek and functional. Its so… normal. And it got blue and yellow grip, which is my standard armor dyes heh.

I’m going to be using the Jotun Greatsword. I got the Shadow one as well, so I’ll switch to it from time to time.

Cobalt because I have the blue glowy eyes.

Crystal guardian hasnt been mentioned yet and could be nice for the ice theme lovers

I REALLY love this one.
I suppose it depends on your armor skin. Right now I’m running Temple armor skins, but I prefer a “cleaner” look.
Havin’t found a skin that I really like yet. But I love that GS skin.
