Once again the “top” examples of our class show they have no knowledge about skill names and cooldowns… (Control wells are 48 seconds! Traited 48!) Still interesting.

When life gives you lemon, ask if its from a anime or manga.

Oh because one mistake on the subject we were discussing disqualifies everything else. And that said information regardless of correct or not still wouldn’t be viable in the setting we were discussing. People make mistakes.

If your upset with the incorrect information about the cooldown thats just nitpicking.

They could work on the amount of time they studer, well its not really stuttering it more like they cant make up where mind on what they want to say so they start one sentence then stop after one word and start a new one, but then change their mind again and start over on the first sentence.
Need to stop, think then speak.

But its a very nice podcast and is very informative and gives you stuff to think about when your playing.

Haha actually i noticed the exact same thing when i went back and listened to the cast. I do agree i was speaking very fast and jumping around. Should of slowed it down and thought it out besides just talking. Besides that and the one mistake on something insignificant, i can promise you the info is correct. Thank you for your input though XelNigma.

If you don’t mind I’d like to give some constructive criticism.

I watch / listen to podcasts and interviews from Joe Rogan and Howard Stern and I find them incredibly interesting and even addicting at times.

From what I’ve noticed, they don’t follow a set list of talking points as strictly as you guys do. If you let the topics stray off it leads to a more natural conversation and a better flow of information.

If you don’t have a technical limitation, don’t be afraid to go over an hour in length. Rogan’s podcast sometimes goes up to 3 hours long because it’s just interesting conversations where he doesn’t cut off the little side tangents. They make your guest more comfortable and makes everything more interesting.

I’ve noticed that around the 50min mark you and your guests get comfortable with each other and makes it a lot more enjoyable to listen to, and a lot of good game points get addressed. It becomes great to listen to and then you start cutting off great content for the sake of it going over an hour long.

Howard Stern makes his guests feel comfortable right off the bat and he fires off questions from all over the place and he makes it to where only an hour works, but he is also the best in radio and is the reason he got 100million dollar deal.

This is just my opinion but I think you guys have started a really good thing and would like to see it improve. I think a more lax, loose, and longer podcast would turn this pretty decent podcast into something great. Also I would like to hear more input from bahb, a 3 way convo is more entertaining.

Hope you guys take this into consideration

A few counter points:
a) While it is good to let a topc wander around and sometimes derail, its kinda needed to hold a “list” of not so strict lines how a podcast goes (kinda like the siskel and ebert reviews used to be)
b) Youtube analitics show that unless its a special case, general attention span of long videos before closing or skipping is up to hour and 20 minutes, also time constrains of the people in question.
c) Noone likes Bhawb, he is the Jaggered horror of the podcast (jk ofc, its just that there is no set banter/play off roles that they could do for now, like a Straight Man and Wise Guy routine – mostly since Bas plays of both parts).

When life gives you lemon, ask if its from a anime or manga.

To counter your counters

A ) Im not saying to not have a “set list” I’m just saying out of the 3 eps I’ve listened to, every single time had an instance where I wanted to hear what the guest had to say but then heard “well hold up lets get back on topic” killing the natural flow of conversation and whatever it was that was interesting

B ) A podcast isn’t meant to be a sit down and watch show. It’s talk radio. You throw it up in the background while you do something else. Of course you cant sit and watch 3 guys talk into a microphone, it isn’t enough visual action. But you can listen to it and retain information while you’re doing things like Grinding out hearts, doing a dungeon, cleaning your room, having a work out etc…

C ) He sounds like a chill guy that I’d like to hear opinions or questions he has from guests but he maybe has 7 scentences the entire cast

Obviously we aren’t quite as good as Howard Stern, yet

But the reason we don’t have such long interviews is frankly, this isn’t a job for us; no one here is making a penny off this. That means Bas comes home from work and takes time out of his day to do this, I come home from school and need to work my homework schedule around this, and I’m sure our guests have real life that they are working around our podcast as well. Frankly, and I can’t speak for anyone else here, I just couldn’t do the podcast at all if they were much longer than an hour.

As for the other points, we really don’t follow a “script”. What happens is we have a basic idea of what the other person knows about the game (so we talk about things they can, you know, actually talk about :P), and then Bas and I prepare questions, and we just kind of go from there. I can talk to Bas about maybe going more off script, I think our goal in the beginning though was to keep things somewhat on topic so we got some coverage on important points (like we want to have our tPvP guys talk about tournaments, so there is some coverage out there for that), maybe over time as we have more specific information we can ramble on more easily; at least its something to look into.

As for making guests comfortable, I think its going to be a lot harder in this area. Besides just being a better show host than us, Stern (to my knowledge) tends to actually have people who are already in the public eye on his show; they are already somewhat used to speaking in public. We have pretty normal people, if not to the nerdier side of things, and our group doesn’t tend to be all that great at public speaking, so what you are seeing around the 50 minute mark is when the jitters of being recorded fade away, and its just a couple people talking.

As for why I don’t talk, it is something we are working into the show. It is something we’ll just learn with time, none of us are really used to this yet, and having 3 way conversations takes more skill to do in a way that is enjoyable to listen to than 2 way with a person who jumps in rarely. Don’t worry, I’ve been trying to work on talking more though, I know you all don’t get enough of me on the forums already.

And thanks for the suggestions, we always appreciate them. It is unfortunate that they get comfortable at the end and then its gone :P, hopefully it will transition better once we get rolling we see return guests; maybe they will be more comfortable on air the second time around.
