After about the 10th ranked loos in a row I decided cele signet wasn’t cutting it for me. So I switched to a Rabid terror build. Having much more fun and success.

Yeah, i am pretty successful in rankeds with my rabid condi necro, although i don’t think terror is a good choice right now. 1 second fear = 1 terror dmg tick is not worthy, imo.
You can just get MoC for a lower cd heal, corrupt boon and CPC vs ranged teams.
Or PoC for extra boon corruptions against boon oriented teams.

I tried a similar build and I feel that terror damage isn’t worth it. Many fears are either stun break, blocked or face stability. It’s on par with the pathetic DS Dhuumfire damage.

Lingering Curse over Weakening Shroud isn’t worth it either. With all the cleanse it’s better to “condi bomb” with weapon/DS switches. And extra weakness sources are always good.

I prefer earth sigil over nullification, and Fear of Death over Vital Persistence is debatable. :p

When you get tired of this build, try settler necro. I have fun and success with this condi/support build:

Plague sending can be tricky to proc with mostly 24% crit rate with fury. Alternatively the chill on blind trait isn’t bad, or maybe sigil of intelligence instead of doom on scepter for easier (more controlled) proc.

I switch a lot between Signet of Vampirism and traited Consume Conditions, and I feel the former is slightly better: CC is as easily interrupted as SoV, but SoV already passively heals (and thoughness/healing amulet is just perfect for it) and getting interrupted usually matter less, not to mention that even if CC is successfully cast, the blind that ensue can be VERY annoying. SoV is also better for fake casting (or juke as people seem to call it nowadays).

Balance team is a bunch of clowns, hurting the game to the full extent of their abilities.

I can’t get into celestial signet build either. I know it’s the meta, but I’ve had a lot more success using the wellomancer power build.

For me it’s all about killing time before HoT with different (more or less trolling) builds, as everything gets boring after a while.

Speaking of which, I just switched back to rabid and it really puts a lot of pressure compared to settler while still having good sustain, except against good burn guards, I just can’t survive at all, even with 3 transfers, I should play burn guard to better understand. :p

i’ve been having lots of success w/it too then i noticed the terror ticks…
1 tick is for 200, i wanna make a bug thread or sth but i dont believe the devs will actually see/repond to this, unless im somehow mistaken

Probably not a full second of fear… you get the full damage with 1 full second. If you have 1.5s fear you’ll get ticks for less damage to cover that 0.5s

There is no such reduction based on time on conditions. Wether your fear lasts 0.1s or 1s you get one tick so one damage.
From the wiki page on Condition

It is important to note that conditions only inflict damage over time in one second intervals and any remaining fractional seconds are inflicted either at the beginning or end of their duration.

The formula form Wiki is:
0.4 * Malice + 296 or
0.4 * Malice + 444 if the target already has one other condition.
You should, at least, get 296 with 0 Malice since it’s direct damage.
As far as I know the only reduction for condition is our Corrupter’s Fervor

The “fractional” tick will do less damage (i.e., if your Fear lasts 1.5s, you will get one tick of “full” damage plus one tick of half damage, applied over a 2s duration since the ticks are still always at 1s intervals). If you had a 0.25s duration Fear somehow, you would get one tick for 0.25x the usual damage. Something like this is most likely the cause of the observed lower damage ticks.

I just test it in the PvP lobby and you are kitten right!
Thank you for this, I’m pretty sure it wasn’t this way before and I must remember a very very old behaviour.
Mistery solved then: your fear tick was very short.
