Help me understand this combat log
Assuming ~1900 condition damage meta necro build, 7 stacks of bleed could do over 1k DPS, burn could do 900+ (Dhuumfire), poison close to 300, if they were perplexity, 3 stacks of confusion can do 600ish damage per skill use.
With the amount of skills you used, you could have easily died from burn + 7 bleeds + poison + confu + the direct damage in the amount of time you said.
If you WERE hit by fear, thats close to another 1k damage per second that you were feared for.
Blood/Rending/Putrid Curse is the scepter auto attack rotation. He also used scepter #2 (Grasping Dead) which applies bleeding and cripple.
Even if he used Dhuumfire (which I’m sure he did) those alone won’t cause 14k damage in just 10 seconds.
I think the key attack here was Deathly Swarm (dagger #4), you probaly applied some confusion on the necro and got it all back with that skill.
Assuming the standard wvwvw mesmer setup and a full 3 clone shatter, id say * bad scottish accent activated* Ye killed yerself with cha confusion stacks getting transfard boy, watch out for dem flie swarms ey bloody kitten.
Also necros do like 100 dps pre bleed stack, so 5 stacks over the duration of that fight would be enough to kill you 3 times over.

I don’t think I was hit by fear, Reaper’s Mark and Doom both deal a little direct damage and there wasn’t any in the log. I am sure there wasn’t any spectral wall either.
1x Blood Curse = 1 × 8s bleed
2x Rending Curse = 2x 8s bleed
1 x Putrid Curse = poison
Barbed Precision probably another ~2 x bleed
At 137 damage per stack over 9s thats > 6k
Dhummfire assuming 1900 condition damage and 100% condition duration is ((0.25 * 1900) + (4 * Level) + 8 )) * 6 = 4770.
I hit him with 1 mind wrack and 2 cry of frustration, so at most its 5 stacks, plus maybe 2 from the necro’s runes 7* (65 + (0.075 * 1900)) * 3 attacks, ~4.3k damage. Yeah, you guys are right, this is the part I didn’t take into account.
Thanks for the help, I think I would either need to cc with gs #5 and diversion and ensure that my burst lands or to bring condition removals. And of course, I shouldn’t have used that cry of frustration against that necro.

Confusion stacking is always dangerous to do against a necro for exactly this reason. Just consider it an important learning experience and carry on.
The take away from this is that the ‘combat log’ is woefully insufficient because it fails to provide all the information.
