Horror movie theme
Haha this is a pretty good idea and it totally does fit with the theme they were trying to portray for the Reaper.
Lol I swear I was just talking about that. Was it this post that got you thinking?
As a ranger main I absolutely agree. Necro’s got screwed pretty hard. At least they lubed it up nice for ya. “Reapers are going to be the masters of chill so you don’t need gap closers”… a few weeks later “chill no longer affects movement skills”
You will be just like the scary movie monsters that slowly stalk the enemy. So basically all you need to do is wait for your opponent to trip over their own feet so you can catch them, just like they do in the movies.
Me like me like,,,
So a chance to knockdown foes when struck? Sounds very horror movie. I get so mad when I’m watching something like walking dead and the people trip like it is an everyday issue. I haven’t tripped in months…

Two weeks later…
“knockdowns will no longer affect movement speed”
alts: Fangyre (Necro), Hardrawk (Ele);
Jade Quarry

Hahahaha
That or apply 25 stacks of vulnerability, poison and burning to yourself when you knock down an opponent.
I would honestly prefer a condition we could apply that prevents opponents from CCing us with non condition attacks.

It actually was that post, I forgot where it was but that’s what made me think of a tether knockdown.
Funny you should describe it like that. There is a gw1 assassin skills that does exactly that:
Scorpion Wire:
Half Range Hex Spell. (8…18…20 seconds.) Shadow Step to target foe and cause knock-down the next time this foe is more than 100’ away from you.
Can we get a condition/status effect that negates the boon effects first? That would have been perfect for MoC.

Jason is still alive, true story, I saw him in a golden set of armor on the finale of game of thrones season 6. We’re necros, dying and coming back is part of the game…
Horror movie endings.. The bad guy/monster dies.
Or the good guy gets away… As if they’re hinting that the best way to fight reaper is to walk away.

Not always that’s usually the heavily publicized ones.

See, I dont see why they couldnt add this for “flavor” since they are so happy to give us 10 stacks of vuln on our only good heal in the name of “flavor”.

More like the black guy dies.

I just think it would be awesome. I’m imagining it now, someone is losing badly, my chill is in them but they are I’m luck because their movement ability isn’t affected! Sadly for them when they use it after they get 400 range away they are knocked to the ground and now have some vulnerability. At this point I’m on him and he is chilled again and dies horribly. I’m almost terrified for that poor player.
Or apply the same condition that being “drunk” is — you fall down if you try to dodge

Night of the Living Dead
spoiler alert
The black guy does die, but in the most accute piece of social commentary I’ve ever seen in film. Pure Genius.

This film is way ahead of it’s time in terms of racial equality. Kinda needs work on the gender equality, tho.
On Topic, the horror movie monster theme is a great idea on paper, like so many of Anet’s ideas, but in practice they just utterly fail. I’m not convinced that Reaper is going to work. At all.
Ranger pets; sound great on paper, don’t work with the games mechanics in practice, where survival means dodging, jumping and active damage mitigation.
Necro sustain and slow attacks; Sounds great on paper, just doesn’t work with the games mechanics in practice, which requires dodging and active damage mitigation and interupts are widely available.
Reaper’s sustain coupled with even more slow attacks, why should it work any better than base Necro? Chill to prevent escape? Except that chill has been nerfed, has to be traited for to be effective which means forgoing monster theme traits and is widely cleansable, prevented with resistance and even converted to resistance by several skills and traits, along with the whole dodging and mitigation thang which other classes do way better.
