So just wondering how are Powermancers finding the recent Necromancer buffs? Been reading other professions and even some Necromancers complaining about how strong condition is now, but what about Powermancers (Dagger/X + Staff)?

Powermancer is virtually unchanged. Cooldowns were reduced, and I suppose they could use Dhuumfire now if they wanted to be flashy. Also, I will never understand why they believe running a staff on a power build is a good idea.

Contact me ingame for Necro, Ranger, Mesmer, and Thief advice.

A fun build for dagger is wells the cooldown change to some wells was a solid boost.

The spectral buff gave a very nice buff to the power DS lifeforce build, moving Axe to master level opened some options for the fans for axe.

If axe auto-attack ever gets buffed, a well build with dagger/warhorn and axe/focus will be great. It’s probably pretty good right now; it’s just overshadowed by how crazy condition builds are at the moment.

Loving it – Deathshroud changes are fantastic… today in WvW i hit a guy for around 7.5K with Life Transfer (3 times) and he died… the end.

80 Necro (5), 80 Guard (4), 80 Mesmer (3)
80 Ranger (3), 80 Warrior (3), 80 Thief (3)
80 Ele (2), 80 Engi (3), 80 Rev (2)

Lifeforce is tasty in SR30 builds and staff provides more of it than any other weapon along with a bunch of other utility (condi clears, regen, dropping CC marks behind you during an escape). I know everyone else seems to manage just fine with axe/X and the very, VERY occasional lifeforce gain in skill 2, but I love staff on set 2 to recharge it as quickly as possible while kiting.

Thats the point you don’t need a auto attack for axe… you auto attack is… drum roll DS #1. Literally I’m not joking.

Focus 4 + Axe 2 Burst, Go into deathshroud and 100% crit your next 4 attacks then drop out and repeat burst again (providing you have axe training for cd).

This.
It’s a ton of fun, and fairly viable in meta IMO.

Hoopa doopa.

That’s what I’m using, but in PvE perspective I’d be interested in

1) Rune choices, been thinking Scholar or Eagle for example.

2) Specific trait setup (mainly wondering between Near to Death vs. Vital Persistence or even Soul Marks for imba DS regen, I really like having staff as fallback and condi transfer since I do a good bit of harder dungeons).

3) People’s ideas of those 10 points

1.) I use runes of the eagle with my power build.

2.) I actually pick lower cool downs for DS and lower spectral cool downs, but I think that 2nd soul reaping trait is decided by playstyles.

3.) I take reaper’s precision/gt wells. I put the points in curses for the stats as much as the traits.

Basic build copy past if link doesn’t work.

1) Don’t use runes you get more crit bonus if you go ruby orbs.

2) I get near to death because you need to be able to get in and out of DS easily to access life blast. Plus you can regen lifeforce pretty easy.

3) go 10 points into curses for reapers precision or go 10 points into blood for mark of blood on dodge.

Really up to you.

Try 10/0/30/30/0 – soldier or knights gear. wells, lifesteal, solid mix of tanking/power. Good for PvE- leaves something to be desired for PvP, however.

This is my stat spread.
I’m using Weakening Shroud in curses for the awesome dmg mitigation it gives now.
Also remember to always use your DS if it’s full, no reason to waste LF gain.

Attrition – A pretty name for taking longer than anyone else to kill something.
