Has anyone been using it to any decent extent?

If anyone has any thoughts on it I would appreciate hearing from you.

Well, a decent skill, nothing to add really. I’d like the bleed being replaced with Poison, but it’s okay already.

Still, the beta ground-teleport version would be really amazing

Traited with path of corruption, I would go even as far as to say that it’s THE best single skill necromancer currently has. Condition burst potential is just insane from a single skill.

I think I should remove this quote given the recent developement.

I agree with Targuil. It was already a very strong skill without any traiting, allowing you to easily close gaps in PvE as well as sometimes applicable as a pseudo dodge, in WvW it is one of the best chase mechanics as it homes, is unblockable, and chills, and sPvP it allows you to quickly get on a point, get close to someone, and condi burst. It has a lot of versatility and it makes a big difference in my gameplay almost every game.

And now they gave it the ability to be an unblockable, homing, 900 range teleporting condi burst that converts two boons on a 15 (13 traited) CD.

So the question from me is, is it better to spec for Dark Path, or to keep Dumbfire? With my current 30/20/0/0/20, to maybe turn it into 20/30/0/0/20 since I’ve already traited for DS abilities. Hmm tough question, and I mostly run sPvP.

I tend to switch in between 4/6/0/0/2 and 0/6/4/0/4 now. First option seems like better for duelling, due to nice burst and chill uptime + signet cd reduction/retaliation and bonus duration on conditions,

Second however allows for very frequent corrupting, which isn’t that deadly in case of Guardians mostly (they tend to boonspam more than 2 boons at once), but works great on Warriors, Elementalists, Mesmers, Engineers.
Since Path of Corruption is 13 second cooldown, it allows for being a pain in the kitten for professions with Retaliation, bonus Confusion is always cool Reduced cd on staff and greater marks or other master trait works too.

You can also switch to 0/6/2/2/4 and pick up Transfusion, very nice AoE heal for teamplay

Dhuumfire and Path Of Corruption are in different trees, you can have both.

As far as Dark Path goes, it’s one of my favorite skills. Second only after Corrupt Boon which is my single favorite skill of any profession in the entire game.
Being able to gap close, apply conditions, slow your enemy down, and scare the bejesus out of them by popping up right in their face is awesome. I frequently use Dark Path just after fearing someone who’s trying to kite me.
Thanks to the Necro’s lack of mobility and disengage, I think I can confidently say if you’re not using Dark Path on a relatively regular basis (in a WvW or PvP environment anyway) then you’re missing out on one of our best abilities.

4/2/0/4/4, Dark Path is awesome, bleeds do as they’re supposed to, and the chilling+teleport is just freaking awesome. Say the enemy teleports, I can teleport too, get em to condition cleanse early and go HAM

I can second the opinion that Path of Corruption makes Dark Path an incredibly versatile skill. I ran 6/4/0/0/4 since Dhuumfire was released, and when they announced the nerf to Dhuumfire (DS Auto), I switched to 4/6/0/0/6, and later had reservations on how worth it Path of Corruption would be when they announced that. I can say that without a doubt, it is worth taking for several reasons.
One, it adds another boon removal to the build, so between it, Corrupt Boon, and Chill of Death, there are 3 ways to seriously pain builds that rely on boons.
Second, it performs better than Dhuumfire defensively, because instead of Death Shroud being on a rotation for the burning procs, you use Dark Path when you need boon corrupting, which allows for a more conservative approach to Life Force usage.
Sadly, as it is with all boon removal skills, it seems to prioritize stability last, so enemies with stability need to have very few other boons to be able to follow up with a Doom.

All in all, PoC has my seal of approval.

This skill has become incredible with path of corruption. I’ve been running 0/6/2/0/6 and 6/6/0/0/2 power builds with spectral utilites and the 2 boon removal and chill is amazing. It provides many needed cover conditions, and severely weakens enemies.

Necros don’t have reflects, invulns, vigor, blocks,
extra dodges, real stability, mobility skills,
burst skills, sustain, or good support. GG ANET.

I love it. I sorta feel like we are one of the few classes that actually got anything decent out of the new GM traits.
