How did everyones day turn out?
I logged in, played with the new specialisations for a while….then I had to go to work.
So quite bad day for me.
My game crashed during Vinewrath three times.
Other than that, it’s been a blast. Tried Necro and Warrior so far, and pve condition specs are crazy fun. I don’t know how much exactly pve condi necro got buffed, but it feels a lot stronger now.

That is pretty good to hear. I’ll probably mess around with the pve side tomorrow.
From a WvW perspective, I’m actually quite pleased.
I was afraid my old build wouldn’t be usable anymore after the patch, especially with all the people saying how terrible conditionmancer would be.
Went through traits for a while, spent about 20minutes making some alterations but it’s come out roughly the same as my old build. I lost a few things but gained some things too so I don’t really feel any weaker or stronger. Maybe a tad bit on the stronger side actually.
Did a few hours of solo roaming, had a lot of fights. Corrupter’s Fervor is… Just amazing. I have 3.5k toughness with all stacks which is just amazing against power spec’s. I expected to lose a lot of fights but went the night undefeated (excluding when I got zerged) so I’m thrilled with how things turned out.
I still wish Consume Conditions, Plague and Mark Of Blood hadn’t been nerfed but it sounded a lot worse than it turned out to be. I take back any mean things I said about the changes… Except anything I said about Consume Conditions, lol. I still want the old version back…

it’s interesting because it seems that conditions are actually viable now. I’m getting ready to try, tequatl, i’ll see how that goes. We could be considered a big force multiplier with epidemic….maybe, we’ll just have to see how it goes. But so far my dire condition necro is doing wonderful….and here comes the flack for not using something glass. -_-

Hey, you get to turn that toughness into more condition damage. With Rune of the Undead and the gm curse minor, 20% of that toughness becomes condi damage. I don’t know if it’s worth the loss of 45% bleed duration, but it could be good.
Loving it in WvW. My power necro just got a lot tankier without sacrificing power.

Actually I’m using nightmare runes…but…now that you mention it…I have things to consider.
I had a ton of fun on MM. Blood Bond and Transfusion are amazing traits to use. Condi Necro is still borked, power necro is better at using condis than condi is, plague is awful I literally killed other necros solely because they tried to use Plague, and Consume Conditions is so bad I am using SoV. Overall it was fun though, so long as I ignored the bad stuff.

Thanks for sharing the MM experience. I plan on giving that a go tomorrow, but honestly I love the feel of power wellmancer. A really good amount of survival mixed in with a ton of damage.
Every time I see a ranger approaching I’ve learned to put protection up.
Did mostly PvP with a little WvW roaming so far. I can’t quite say that Necromancer has been a free kill in conquest, but it’s pretty close. Power builds seem reliant on throwing around conditions to keep pressure off themselves, while condition builds can’t seem to do anything very well. After picking on them for most of the afternoon, I tried a few games as Necro (what was my main pvp prof) and everything seemed like an uphill battle. I guess I have to keep tweaking until I find a build that can compete with everything else’s buffs.
On the other hand, Mesmer, Warrior, Guardian, and Thief have been a blast! Have yet to try out the others.
I do not enjoy getting two-shot by grenade Engis.
UPDATE: After a few more games, Power seems to be all right, if a bit gambly for a non-burst build. Condition is still very rough; definitely seems worse off than before.

I had a lot of fun with my MM build, it’s great! Really tanky and has a lot of option.
However, I feel as though mesmers are way stronger now. Their shatter burst feels so much stronger in comparison to other classes I fight. As of now it’s the only thing I really find difficulty fighting.
S/I/F engineer Z/R/D guard
Had a pretty extensive day of PvP. The power creep level is incredibly against our favor. While everyone is getting stronger and even more mobile due to leap change, our DS remains exactly the same. Which means we are easier to pin cushion than ever before. This is frustrating. Nothing will change with this class.
Not to mention still zero death shroud at the beginning of games, so yea. No defense to start against people who have received overall buffs.
0 defense was really noticeable for sure. I have to be really conscious to start the fight with life force generation.
played carrion and cele scepter/wh staff 66006 and I actually only killed people with their own condi
I did not like my personal pressure and defense with MOSTLY signets on bar but the transfer and then covering them with SoS and fear was a thing of glory against pesky engis but tanky condi rangers didnt care much. patient thieves just outplayed me much with improvisation making me waste dodges for the skull fear…
replaced CoCo with SoV which I never expected I’d ever do…had fun afterwards with condi guard BBQing everything including MM necros with traited justice.
I am still sad about plague/CoCo/Lich.

Even then, anyone who knows anything about necro will not allow you to do this for too long. Even if you’re staying away from the fight, people are going to flush you out, or worse, just blitz and teleport/dash onto you. Guardians don’t even need line of sight to do this. If more than one person catches on, then you are smoked.
In condi builds yes, but I’m playing MM and I’m tanky as balls.

And the Signet Necro (or should we start calling it “we don’t want your conditions, here, take them to your own face!”-build? ) is just as tanky as all damage comes from the enemies themselves. And the LF generation also looked quite insane from what i saw of it.
It is fun I’m very happy with plague sending. Not only does it a lot of damage to condi builds, it gives me might. The fact that works against stealthed foes is also nice.
The biggest complaint is that I neraly have no life force.
Been a lot of fun. Cele builds or any buuod that relies on boons are fun fights. I now feel the weaker people get the more of an advantage I have in a fight
I just wish they would apply one change (although that might make the build way too good) : Have transferred conditions scale with your OR the opponents condition damage (whichever one is higher), so that it also works somehwat vs powerbuilds. Still worse than condi builds, but at least those warrior bleeds would scale with our condi damage then and do a little more work.
(Its crazy, i was so down yesterday but seeing Bahwbs MM doing work and the signet/plaguesending madness got my hyped again…at least for the PvP side of things. Now people just need to accept the vampiric aura as group utility so the hate in dungeon group dies down somewhat, and it might be the best state the Necro has been in apart from the madness that was release Dhuumfire. )
Played power wellmancer also, but with reaping and blood. The damage great, was plenty survivable, and did well in spvp, wvw (except against an infinite sustain d/d ele) and fractals. After all the complaining on these forums about heal skill and elite transformation nerfs, I’m finding everything seems flat out better. If some heals weren’t nerfed a little, I could easily see how things would get out of hand w/ blood magic. Have yet to see how things feel without blood though… also its kind of nice have 2 utility effects. All in all, I’d buy Robert Gee a few rounds.
i started with the power build i had, plus blood magic. It turned out ok. I guess the siphoning and protection from wells makes up for the loss of vitality due to the change in the berserker amulet.
Then swapped to condition+blood. I didn’t like it. I had the bad luck to face two elementalists on the other team, that shook my conditions like nothing. I spent like 20 seconds trying to build up more than 5 stacks of bleed, and retreated afterwards (thank god for the wurm). This happened every time i went up against the elementalists, which was often as one of them was camping the far point and my team was getting wrecked everywhere else.
will have to experiment some more.
Fine in condition except for CC nerf and trash Parasitic Contagion vs players I’m not done experimenting though.
The Dhuumfire thread
Just tried out MM in sPvP for a few hours.
Great googly moogly! I felt near invincible on a point. Very good LF generation, healing, damage, etc.
My main weakness was having only one direct stun break and the spectral armor proc. Overall, MM seems to be performing well.
I tried a few power, hybrid, and MM builds in PvE.
Necromancer conditions seemed in line with expectations, buffed slightly, but power damage on zerker felt significantly stronger.
Minions were mildly better but I often took down the mob with dagger before any but Bone Fiend got a shot in.
Axe-focus applied vulnerability much faster, like 2x, so I could cap vulnerability solo, which made axe better.
Temple-zerging was very fast. I saw bleed stacks over 80 and none below 50. Burning stacks were about 10. I tried running scepter but it felt like a waste of time and just used dagger, again.
Jormag was burned down faster than I had seen since the world bosses were buffed to make the fights last longer.
My feeling is that all professions received a PvE boost to dps. Necromancer did not benefit much from raising the caps and changing to intensity stacking but some professions received a huge boost from burning and bleeding.
Necromancer feels tougher running blood magic, though. This is definitely an improvement.
I think all damage and sustainability should be scaled more so that it takes serious investment to get good results.
I will try some bunker and heal builds if I get on, tonight, to see if the low end of the scale is appropriately weak.
Wells build with blood line works better than ever, cant say im disappointed. Tried other things but nothing brings it the same way as a well that does even more damage.
alts: Fangyre (Necro), Hardrawk (Ele);
Jade Quarry
I jumped in with my build that I had been planning figuring that the extra life siphon would be great and that I would be tankier then ever.
I was wrong, my friends have made burn guardians. Oh Boy, fire is the true winner right now in PvP.
I have changed my build, I will not be destroyed by your fires it takes more then burning to get my necro.
Now I am about as tanky as I can get and I must say damage output is still good. I am the true attrition mancer!
I ditched my Necro at the bottom of Rata Sum, went WvW roaming on my ele and saw that every Necro was running power, confirming my belief that terrormancer is dead.

I tried a corruption build, got splattered repeatedly. I wanted to see just how bad it really was…yes it is in fact that bad.
WvW – Necro is still great.
PvP – mediocre.
Damage w/o Marauder/Berserker amulet is simply bad and any bit tanky class will outheal it.
And with those amulets – 1.8k Armor and you go down quite fast…too fast.
I’m ditching necro in pvp mode until they do something with it.
Rekt sustain in PvP by across the whole line.
Anet gave birth to Gw2 – Anet killed Gw2.
Murican law 2015.
I am pleasantly surprised to be honest. I didn’t expect to have so much fun with signet necro. Condi signet didn’t really work out so I switched to power signet.

MM and wellmancer are fairly good. Some people don’t like the idea of playing MM though, which is fine, but they are good right now. I have noticed a few people starting to smash my minions first with aoe, but they are usually so close to death by the time they die, they still lose. It is a bother having to resummon them though.
I’m not a fan of the condi builds. Once the newness of condi builds fades and anet nerfs condis, I think it will lose its luster.
I didn’t have much time to play around, sadly, but I was using a power well build before, and am still using it. I’ll have to hold off on commenting though until I can get into WvW and really use it.
I’d be interested in trying a MM build now. Have they fixed the uselessness of minions? When I tried those before they mostly just stood around looking dumb.

They still have some issues, but the change to necromantic corruption seems to make that they will always take the conditions, I’m not sure about the transfer though after they take them.

I’m not specifically aiming at builds, but amulet alone.
Removal of Trait stats decreased sustain of my build heavily.
So without back up with 1.8k Armor only I’m way too squishy, and imagine that earlier with the same build I had 2.2k Armor.
So my sustain was higher and nicer. Taking into account that Crit chance and Crit Damage is still the same – well, got boost to power tho – damage is quite unchanged.
But sustain in such build along with Consume Conditions nerf, you’re almost a free kill without someone backing your kitten up.
My point is that Anet went too far with those changes – they should introduce a possibility to choose stats on amulets or something.
Right now, as Necromancer you’re punished for playing that class instead of being punished because you’re bad.
I tested other amulets too.
The outcome is silly.
Marauder or Berserker.
Nothing else.
Regarding Condition build – it got boosted by condition changes, but I believe it will be toned down, since they prioritize and acknowledge that dps from conditions is too high atm.
Anet gave birth to Gw2 – Anet killed Gw2.
Murican law 2015.
Awful.
Condition necromancer is terrible right now because it still suffers all the same problems it did before but it’s now significantly worse because Death Shroud is removed in seconds thanks to everyone having ridiculously high damage.
The fact that condition mesmers now surpass us in every way gives me a headache.

If you don’t use shadow fiend (which you shouldn’t imo) you’re looking at Flesh Golem being on the only meaningful minion to bug out. Wurm/Bone Fiend don’t bug much because of ranged, Bone Minions die too much to bug, so Flesh Golem is the big problem, and his Charge will fix his aggro momentarily. Pretty easy to work with them now, though Golem is still pretty hilarious.
So is the consensus that still Power > Condi for necro? Even in the case of Epidemic?
Yep. Condi still doesn’t provide enough consistent pressure compared to power. It spikes really well now, better than before, but you can only spike, outside of your spikes not much you can do.
Quite bad. Seems like the meta now is condi/stealth classes. PU mesmers and condi teefs are just king now. Corrupter fervor is great but idk, necro is feeling weaker now than before patch compared to other classes.
Are we talking traditional terromamcer condition necro? I have been mainly playing a different version and I’m quite happy to be back despite having to use Flesh Golem and finding nothing better than CC. I run staff and scepter/dagger,rabid of course, nightmare runes, leeching and geomancy sigils,CC,SoL,WoP,Plague Signet and golem. http://dulfy.net/gw2traits#build=AgQBlAK0BPQ~
Don’t try traditional terromancer I haven’t found use of Soul Reaping or Death Magic for condition necro ironically.
The Dhuumfire thread
Pretty exciting day, tried all classes. It seems to me we can be vulnerability/might monsters, Death Magic looks pretty strong, Blood Magic got some nice new stuff->healing in DS is awesome. But the Corruptions thing, the 1burning stack Dhuumfire and especially the fact that we have to decide between 50% fear duration and spectral mastery (no more spectral terromancer) made me sad.
Also after playing ranger, warrior and guardian who all got extremely buffed, i still don’t understand what makes so OP and we can’t have nice things.
PS: Last Rites is awesome:D
Happily using barbarian amulet for 31k-hp and 21k-lf. Enjoying life.
Lol, with everyone still saying conditionmancer is dead I think I’ll enjoy being a unicorn. I still do just fine with it. That’s not to say that people aren’t right, it is definitely the weakest among condition builds, but I’ve had a lot of practice with it and melting people is even easier now than pre-patch thanks to certain traits like Corrupter’s Fervor. I’ve had plenty of fights, 1v1 and outnumbered as well as a bunch of agreed upon duels to be sure it’s really working as I’d hoped and yeah, it’s just fine.
However, WvW and PvP are two very different things and I’m speaking from a WvW perspective as I pretty well always am. Still, just saying that I’m enjoying conditionmancer as much as ever and that I’m really surprised everyone is saying conditionmancer is RIP. Either I’m better with it than I think or I’m only facing really crappy players.
