How is the Necro class in WvW and SPvP?
For WvW and Spvp anything works just pick a class you like. Starting with a eng will help you pick up necro you are probably already good an putting down marks and kit swapping fast is alot like managing two weapons and DS.
Necro is a step up for an eng because for some odd reason Anet keeps nerfing engineers.
No stability, low amount of CC skills no knockdown is a minus as is instant movement/ohkitten keys.
Necro is in a better spot then it was at release still needs a few things, dont make one if you want to be a minion master. If you like the conditions gameplay its a fine choice.
Anet is mostly nerfing power-based grenade builds, not the entire class of engineers. Of course, since grenades were seen as the only viable spec for engineers, that sizeable subset of engineers immediately expanded it to “they’re killing our entire class!”.
The core reason I’m giving up on necro is that it needs a large rework of its scattered skills, and that is one thing anet has NEVER done since launch, so it’s unlikely they’ll ever do it, and if they do do it it probably won’t be for necro. They can’t or won’t even disable or move reanimator despite demonstrated problems with it – what makes people think they’ll ever put the well skills in one tree?
How’s Necro on WvW?
Let me put it this way, I’ve fought and seen Warriors, Guardians, Mesmers, Engineers, Elementalists, Rangers and Thieves (who’s P/D build is all but impossible to kill as a Necro, always need to rant about this) run away from fights they were losing and chase down enemies in fights they were winning.
Necros? Not as much, hope you planned really far ahead with that Flesh Worm or that you can get inside that tower with Plague + DS before you die.
Running around with my Dagger/Focus necro in WvW and I’m having a blast with it than my warrior main. Though with my build, not much I can do against siege and towers but you usually should make it up with another siege weapon. My damage mainly comes from DS and Lich form.
