How will this work with a power build?

To be honest? Death Shroud already has life blast and life transfer. It doesn’t really need much more for power builds.
That said, you mentioned wells. May I presume your biggest problem with wells is when people insist on walking out of them? Torment (and the implied control conditions that go with Tainted Shackles) may help you keep them in place.

That could be true.. also, i can place well behind them, and give them torment and fear them into my wells for some great dps.. But still, i fear that torment will be useless without tons of condition damage, because if its not, it will be to OP with alot of it.
Therefor, people will still move out of my wells with torment, since they would get killed alot faster if they stand inside it
We don’t actually know anything about numbers or the new ability yet, besides some very general things. Burning, for example, helps power builds still because of its high base damage and relatively low scaling. This damage on moving will also punish people for trying to get out of wells, and get out of dagger range.
And again, we don’t know what DS 5 does yet. Conditions are not bad with power builds, in fact vulnerability directly benefits power builds the most. We need to see details.
Not sure if true, but supposed leaked info is:
Torment: Added a new Condition called Torment. This does damage every second (75% of a bleed), and double damage to foes that are moving(150% of a bleed).
New ability #5 – Dark Binding: You tether all enemies within a 600 range, constantly dealing Torment to them over time. At the end of the cast, Dark Binding immobilizes all affected enemies still within the radius.
