Morning guys, figured I’d start a thread that wasn’t focused on our nerfs or how terrible our class is etc….

I’m looking to make my first legendary, and as I’ve all but put every profession aside because of how much I enjoy necro, I wondering for those that have made one, is Howler worth it? I’ve been trying to decide for forever what legendary to make, and as a power necro that things Incinerator looks stupid, I think I want Howler.

Looking for feedback from those with it, was Howler worth the time and effort, or do you wish you would have chosen a different weapon?… I prob run focus about as much as I run horn, but couldn’t bare to make minstrel, and tho i love the idea of GS Necro coming in the x-pac, I have every rare/special crafted GS skin in the game outsid of the legendaries as I played Warrior/Guardian almost exclusively my first 2 years. I have every mat, exept tokens and pre-curser now and just looking for some advice before I pull the trigger. Thanks and have a good day!

It’s so bad that nobody plays axe, so nobody asks for axe buffs, so axe never gets buffs.

This despite the fact that the Reaper is going to need a standalone strong ranged power weapon, or it will be an easy kill for everybody with a leap and a ranged weapon.

i have howler, and it used to be awesome, but then they fixed a bug that made it howl constantly and you can’t tell it’s a legendary anymore. so not really worth it.

I plan on making underwater trident.

Incinerator is your best option for a necro

I have two legendaries (yeah I got lucky and had the resources, it was a long time ago where everything was cheaper) and my advice is… dont get any legendary. None of them are really “worth” the cost and time Their actual value is like 200g (like having all specs weapons). There is always new skins coming. And like in the case of the howler, you dont even know if they will keep being awesome. Or the crummy Bifrost footfalls that was “improved” (ie little to no difference). You can change stats now at least, but they really need free sigils of choice as well.

That’s dissapointing to hear about Howler. So is it really bad now or just now as good as it use to be?… The videos I watched were from the changes and it seemed to be good to me.

I can’t do incinerator, I just don’t think it looks like a dagger to me. Plus I’m holding out and praying for Marjory’s to hit the gem store again!

As for the axe, I’m with you on that one. I originally wanted it as I played axe pre-patch, plus my warrior and ranger could use it, but dagger has become a non-negotiable for power necro now. I just wish Minstrel wasn’t so darn dumb looking or so anti-necro because I love my focus and 25 stacking Vuln in under 3 seconds!

I made howler last year exclusively for my necromancer. At the time it was worth it because I was in a WvW guild where power well necro was a veritable god.

Fast forward to today, I only play pvp. I rarely play necromancer anymore, because it is truly bad compared to the other classes I play. The condition builds do no damage in teamfights and the well builds are easy to lock down and focus fire, a huge liability. The Cele build is probably the best in that regard, but it’d just not my cup of tea.

I don’t truly regret making howler. The Ele elite spec is probably getting warhorn, and I am fortunate to have some SAB trib mode skins, ley lime skins, tormented skins, the Marjory weapons, the gemstone fan focus, and the fractal GS. I don’t feel any need or desire to make more legendaries because I am satisfied with what I have and I will continue to make minor purchases. It was a fun experience making howler though, and for that I will always smile, even if it’s shelfed on my necromancer for the rest of eternity.

My biggest issue is that whether your making the most sought after legendary in the game or one that no one even wants, it takes the same effort outside of the precursor. So I just wanna make sure my effort is going towards something great. I do love the look of Howler and it fits well into my circus ringmaster look I feel. Just don’t wanna be dissaponted or feel like I made the wrong choice.

Ya still trying to get a fix on howler started a forum with plenty of enough views to require a response but still nothing c’est la vie

I always thought the Sclerite warhorn was way cooler than howler, so that’s what I got. It’s gotten pretty pricy lately but still probably less than a legendary.
