it is freaking, amazing fun!

I’ve been playing since beta and I’ve tried everything but Necro, until recently. I had no idea it could be such an “in your face” melee caster class. I love it! I tried all the other caster, clothy types and I know they have a melee component but, Ele was like playing Mozart on two pianos and Mesmer was…well I just don’t get it.

In PvE, I’m running a zerk DS spec (62006) and I love getting in to melee, dropping in and out of DS and surviving all the junk the baddies can throw at me. WvW I just go condi with scepter/horn and staff and again just have a life blast (queue rim shot).
I only have a level 80 Ranger and Engi, but my Necro has become my main for the time being.

I never thought I’d enjoy it but man was I wrong. I’m glad I tried it.

Yes, Necro is an acquired taste but once you like it, you love it. It has it’s flaws like every profession does but you learn to love it in spite of those flaws. I took a long break from playing my Necro for really no reason at all. It wasn’t because I disliked the profession I just started to play something else. Eventually I came back to it and I remembered why I loved it so much. So much so.. That I’m working on a second Necromancer now and maybe even a third in the future (all different races of course). People will bad mouth us about how “bad” we are in PvE or how we lack mobility or what-have-you but cross a Necro who knows what they’re doing and they’ll make your life pretty painful (:

With dagger now cleaving, “In your face is right.” I find it fun to hit myself with warhorn 5, drop a well of suffering and hack away. Even tanks may think twice going toe to toe with that, and stealth-types still get hit by the well and locusts. Toss in some Deathshroud #4 and you become a melee whirlwind of death.

When I made Necromancer at release, I thought, “This is a ranged debuffing class.” I found I was wrong. Necromancer is a face-tanking crippled class and is fun being the perpetual underdog everyone says is OP because conditions > boons. Then all classes got piles of conditions…

Necro has come a long way since launch, with its ups and downs. Love the class and will continue to do so. I has its own unique play style that I find so relaxing. Slow and steady but still requires a lot of strategy.

I always love being the last one standing, soloing whatever it is, cause popping in and out of DS, plus dagger or staff, plus Unholy Santuary… I just… don’t die

I totally agree with you. My necromancer reached lvl 80 on Sunday and I simply love it. I still need to play around with different builds, get some better gear together. But I really love the diversity. It can be great fun to run a round with a whole zoo around you (even though they are dumb as hell) or to face-tank.

I have started sPvP lately and it’s so… so…. *sigh * so fun

It’s funny when GW2 was first announced and the classes were shown, I was least interested in the Necro class, just did not appeal to me in the slightest. At launch I started off with a Mesmer, put about 400 hours on him and ‘finally’ realized it just wasn’t for me, next came a Warrior (which I still love). After that was an Engi (no thanks).. and one evening I got bored and thought…. what the heck… I’ll try out the Necro! Now 700+ hours in and I’m not even close to being bored. Such a fun, fun class. Necro literally saved the game for me. I login and play mostly WvW these days and it is beyond satisfying!

Been playing this game since Dec 2012 and I only play necro. It’s the only Level 80 on my character slot so it looks like I’m not getting bored of it. Tried different class but necro playstyle is really weird. For starters necro is the weakest class but once you mastered it, its quite OP. It’s one of the class where the gap between an adept and an expert is really huge.

I’m currently running Power for PVE and Condi for WVW. From time to time you can be a minion master or a blood magic build for roleplay.

I still think necro needs improvements specially the minion AI.
