If you are at this forum, you probably...
I like both Epidemic and Plague Signet.
I also like how the staff turns into a shadow-scythe when you cast/attack.
That’s about it.
I also like how the staff turns into a shadow-scythe when you cast/attack.
TBH that is very cool. I also like the angry shadowy ball you turn into when you go into Death Shroud.
When my minions actually obey me and all attack my target I feel absolutely godly. Death shroud is also handy as hell, and looks awesome too.
I play almost entirely in WvW, and use a Wells & Condition focused build. Traditional Staff with Scepter/Dagger.
The various wells and epidemic are very effective in WvW. Additionally, you can swap the wells out to what you prefer depending on the situation.
Abilities like Transfusion and Well of Power provide a strong supportive aspect to your toon.
Plague is just silly strong in large, open field engagements.
My only complaint is really the main thing Peters had mentioned — the lack of build diversity. I’d rather be power focused with Staff and Dagger/OH, but power based builds just aren’t at a good place…yet.

To tell you the truth I like that Necromancer can use melee weapon. Ever since GW1 my dream was going N/W with Ram Hammer :P Axe is no hammer but I take what they give.
“I am death incarnate!”
I also like the scythe-look of the staff while you are casting.

Haha, yeah. I always played A/N in GW1 :P
The aesthetic? The flavor of the animations for one are really well done. I enjoy the playstyle a lot and find myself bored by a lot of other classes because of this fact. That still doesn’t mean it’s the most effective though.

Try Reaper Of Grenth + DS.

Be glad, human racials don’t offer necros anything useful.
I like the nostalgia of the class. The reality however is something in this game. Sadly.
I love the darkness of the Necromancer. I love playing the outcast mages that use power they allowed to/ is looked down upon, like Blood Mages (Dragon Age), or other mages of the dark arts.
I love the staff and how it becomes a scythe, that is smexy.
I love how I feel empowered when my guy finds power from a dark, raging beast inside him, bursts into that mass of darkness and yells “I am death incarnate!”.
Finally, I love how I truly feel and look like I am the master of death and darkness. (Along with fellow Necromancers of course!)

I don’t PvP (yet, I may in the future once I hit 80) but I play dagger/focus and am trying a power/crit build with 10 in Blood for the vamp on crit (as it heals the best). So far I love it, with proper use of DS and Lich Form and the right timing I can survive alot of damage coming my way.
Since I don’t really use minions I don’t really feel like a master of the dead but the vamp traits add a nice little touch. I do sometimes feel underwhelmed by DS damage though.
Still I find the class to be fun to play, and in the end that is what matters most to me.
I play a Sylvari Necromancer, I love to PVP on it and finish quests do the story Etc. I first saw necromancer and knew it was the profession for me. The things she says in combat just feel so well crafted, The look of the skills and the pets.
Decimating foes in PVP with my Condition build, Downing or killing multiple Foes before being killed my self with bleeds and poison is always fun. Watching as sometimes not even a team of 3 -5 players can’t kill me, and before they do I’ve killed 3 of them.
Short version Necromancers are defiantly my favorite class.
I like a lot of the spell effects. They are subtle but amazing (the staff turning into a scythe? Yes, please!).
Lich form looks boss.
Plague form, thematically is incredible.
Unlike the majority (it seems), I really like the way the pets look.
Conceptually, I love Deathshroud.
I love the lore and the Necro in general on a conceptual level. I have always loved death magic since my days of pen and paper role playing games, so in most games where it’s an option I go necro, warlock, etc
I just made this video showing why i love necromancer ;-)
Marianitten are you going to go into everyones forums and spam your you tube video? You started your own thread for it so that is all that is needed.
As for Necro I LOVE it. It is hard and it is not as powerful as most classes, but that is why it is great because I am constantly learning new techniques and ways to kill people that I wouldn’t need to learn if I played a more powerful class. When Necro’s get their buff, which I’m sure, I will be set!
I also just love how the class feels, looks, the dots and the tankiness. I love how the Necro is the master of conditions too.

Relax…
EDIT TO MAKE IT MORE CLEAR: I’m really bad in english. I always make a big effort trying to explain myself when i’m writting about the game. Yes, i made a video and post it. I’m not promoting any channel or something.. it’s just and account with ONE VIDEO. I took me time doing it, but i wanted to do it because i think i can explain me better with images than words.
But is ok, i’ll try not to say anything about the video if people doesn’t like that.

^Agree with you on the video and the class. Well said.

I like Epidemic :P
I like the concept of the necro
I abhor the utter mess that ANet created from that concept
when you summon a minion and he says.." get on your …. urgh.. feet!"
Necro needs works but there’s a great deal to like about the profession.
-My skull face mask I’ve kept transmuted and on my character since level 1.
-Lifesteal is awesome thematically, even if currently if ineffective.
-Being a gray haired Norn Necro decked out in blood red and white makes me feel like some sort of sinister santa clause.
-Death Shroud is a creative and interesting mechanic, that does admittedly need work.
-It’s fun proving people wrong by doing well with an underplayed and undervalued profession.
-Addendum to the above, it’s great getting questions asking “where are your minions?” and explaining how the profession works.
-Spectral Grasp + WvW. Nuff said.
-Blind on Plague is one of the best “oh ****” buttons in the game.

Life Stealing, Marks, Wells, Corrupt Boons, Epidemic and the ever so underrated Death Shroud.
Once minion AI gets better and Jagged Horrors get buffed I might use them a lot more, too!
I like their aesthetics and commanding them to do things is just fun.
Seeing my tiny Asura command a Flesh Golem to charge over something is hilarious!
I like how the fleshie can just charge right over something double it’s size and knock it flat on the ground.
Also having played a bit of Elementalist and Thief they both felt like paper after playing Necro for so long.
And yes it’s fun to set Plague’s Blind on autocast and say “EXCUSE ME, MAKE WAY” as you waltz right through a Zerg to enter the little teleport door into your world’s Tower or Keep.

I love dual-daggering my way through the obstacles in the game. I love shroud-dancing. I love feeling strong and viable even when rolling a non-cookiecutter build.
And I love the exotic acolyte set with white/charcoal/lifesblood. .
I love staff ing around and poison clouds, wells… bleed 4 peaople same time… little skeleton head minions…
I love be a necro…
Also, before you activate “Grasping Hand” you say: " Put your hands up in the aiiiirr" and then you watch the animation
I love running around with my Tanky Minion Master build. It makes me sad to see so many people saying Conditionmaster is the only viable build. Fools! Fools I say! The class has been down right my favorite, more so with this build. Been tweeked a bit since BWE 1. But it is still just as awesome as ever. Can’t go wrong with an undying tank.

Hope to see others branch away from the “Viable” one trick pony build.
