Is Celestial gear wasted on a DS necro?
The short answer is no, it would not be efficient. I’m the first to consider unique builds and not worry about maximum efficiency but there’s only a couple classes that innately benefit from Celestial gear which is Elementalist and Guardian.
focus on Dungeons, Fractals and Raiding.
Elementalist and Guardian.
Engis and Warriors too
Rangers also benefit from celestial gear, since more than hald of their weapons have a hybrid focus to them and they have boat loads of regen and healing effects.
Taking a break from GW2 to play various
Nintendo games..
You can make a celestial work for wvw roaming, itll look like this
-traveler runes
-d/d and staff
- before id maybe go for the burning for full offense, but i still mostly rolled with 05540
- condi food, spectral wall and armor, signet of spite over corrupt boon, since only some have stability and u can kite it out, while u also always have the power celestials lack.
Its pretty much a variant and played like leetos dd build in pvp.
Thing is healing power is mostly wasted necro, since regen doesnt tick while in DS.
The good however is nothing can counter you (beside wvw cheez builds)

The thing that makes celestial work is the ability to have a fairly tanky power build, with some conditions (usually burning), that can stack might to offset the “lack” of damage. Celestial ele works by having a very defensive setup that can also stack a lot of might for damage, same with Warrior, and then in Engi/Ranger’s case its not so much tanky but its a way to play a near-zerker build without actually being as squishy as a zerker.
Necromancer on the other hand just doesn’t abuse celestial/might stacking as well as others.
I agree with Bhawb. Celestial is semi everything. It is not bad but not meta. Power/might is not good for Necro on celestial but it does add sustain. I used to have +60% might duration T_T.
