Is necro a bunker? ofc not. If necro goes inside a group fight most likely to happen is you have 5 of them trying to hit you, now that being said, why Anet give necros offensive shouts and a triat that only reduces cooldown (not giving any boon like prot or stab that we need when we use one)? more so no shot is that good to compensate to give up protection, aoe blind, condi to boon or even the worse blink in the game (aka flesh worm) or even protect from wells with siphon health…
Does any1 feels that same
? medium-high cd skills with no use to escape and you need to be almost melle to hit 1 target, more if you wanna risk your life alot is the last thing necros need (tip: give them to ele they can survive in the mosh pit)

1 more problem i have encounter with reaper is that witout soulreaping is really hard to do good with necro, its standard to be in DS more, have a stun break, crit damage, duhmfire. i really tryied to make a solid build with only 1 specialization left and i cannot find any (only duhmfire deals very good in melle).

reaper-melle is another problem cause many times i engage with classes such as ele, rogue, warrior, mesmer wich can move/blink/inv alot and they can toy with the reaper cause we dont have nothing to help us move on the battlefield and our 5 is somewhat good in a teamfight but useless againt 1 or more if the can move easly.

Ppl what you think of this??? shots (the 7%reduction per target hit is the worse thing for me) no mobility skills… am i the only 1?

Necro isn’t a bunker, but as a class – no matter how tanks or bursty you go, we’re constantly playing a game of attrition by building life force and mitigating damage out of shroud through short bursts of Protection and more prominently high weakness application, and damage output with boon hate both in and out of shroud. The class focus overall isn’t to bunker, but to last long enough to out-bunker most bunkers while being generally weak against burst and CC, which most bunkers don’t have.

Necro is rather tanky on a 1v1. But the more enemy the worse it becomes (no scaling defenses like invuln/blocks etc…). We have been complaining about it for ages and with reaper a-net actually answered our call… in a way.

They now added these shouts and this GS which are more efficient the more enemies there are. This allows to make the necro stronger in group fight without making it OP in duels. To some extent, this is a success: with GS and shouts I felt horrible in duels but “just bad” in group fights

So reaper is a-net step in the right direction without adding scalable defense… I think the balance of reaper is a bit off right now, especially the GS but with a few tweaks it will probably work somewhat better than base necro in group fights. I like a lot the design and the idea, it is mostly off because of numbers (low damage, slightly excessive cast times). I would love if they finally add scalable defenses but it seems that’s not part of the master plan.

As far as scaling defenses, I found Reaper to be a quite powerful frontline WvW class, camping shroud and relying on Blighter’s Boon (as your defense which scales in larger groups) to keep your health full while in Shroud and your Shroud full when out of it. In the testing I’ve done in an organized guild setting, the Reaper’s Shroud 2 skill and Flesh Wurm are both great initiation/escape tools, and my Reaper was most always the last frontline to go down when the boons from Guardians and Warriors stopped sustaining its health and shroud after they’d go down. Combined with the number of enemies dying outside of Shroud to sustain my Life Force and Unholy Sanctuary to keep my health up, I almost never had anything but full health or full Life Force. I advise everyone to try out frontline reaper.

Viking Jorun.5413 the title necro a necro bunker is only cause i cant understand why the shouts on necro… and i probably should have said that this is mostly for sPvP, in WvW Gs is great as a frontliner
