Just another armor whine/armor.
In the mean time…
Have you considered the Devout armor?
http://www.gw2armor.com/human/female/k1/light/display_looks.php (this one’s a human female)
Necros don’t wear pants! imo.
Thanks, your attempt to make me feel better is appreciated.
Sometimes I don’t like how most of the female light armors have sexy holes. I tried to make mine looks like Dhuum in GW1 but no luck. Male Arah is along that line but the female bottom is too slim too elegant, and the top is too sexy. Also couldn’t find a proper hood. I want one covering my eyes, giving me a more creepy look.
There are some more necro looking armor but many are too “ritual” for my taste, with all those hanging bones and skulls and stuffs.
Now I just make my necro completely unNecro.
I agree about the sex holes, those really don’t suit my Necro. COF and SE aren’t too bad, but I’ve settled with the Dry Bones set (I actually like the ritual type feel), although I hate the mask. I’d prefer it with just the hood so I may steal it from another armor set.
They’ll add armor with time, there is no way they were going to make everyone happy in the first 20 or so sets they released.
The attached is all I want… dyable, of course.
Nothing fancy, frilly or with doodads.
Thanks, folks, for letting me know I may not be totally alone. :-)
I just wish there were better diversity in armor styles in general. Virtually all Light armor pants are the same for both males and females: slacks underneath a skirt, usually open in the front.

Everything I say is only in reference to PvE and WvW.
The arah dungeon light set has no pants, no sexy holes, and is the opposite of frilly imo. Very cool set for a necro, just gotta work for it. As Afya mentioned, it may still seems too sexy on females, as it’s fitted around the waist. Just a matter of personal taste I guess.

There is a lot of diversity. They have quite a few “niche” looking pieces like the Tribal/Dry Bones sets, and then a lot of varying sets that are more standard light armor (because they are going to be more popular).
Try winged headpiece. If you dye everything one color should be what you are after.
Also devout is pretty plain.

There are a few that break the mold, but even then not as much as I would like. When I look at that gallery, I see a strong pattern emerge.

Trench coats. Trench coats, EVERYWHERE!
What i dont like is that there is no special PVE transmumation stone that lets you take the look of another armor class (God id go grind 1000000 more critters and/or krait that can pull just to unlock it) so that we can get the kitten order of whispers leather setup, gem shop primal armor on my necro and the fancy stripper feathery armor for my sylvari ranger (no he is male id just wanna know how insanely stupid he would look with it shooting robot rainbow unicorns).
If you mix and match sets you can get a look that fits very close to what you described. Go on http://www.gw2armor.com/ and look through the sets. Obviously this site is missing some sets but it gives you some ideas atleast.

I know! Medium armor is even worse! It’s like all the designers in Tyria just saw The Matrix last year and decided that everyone wants to dress like Trinity or Neo.

So… I said that there was good light armor diversity, and you send a picture of medium armor?
Edit: looking at the links between the 2 you posted, I just think the links failed. I agree there are patterns (did you not expect female humans to wear dresses and skirts?), but that is always going to be the case. There are only so many different ways to have pants, and they needed progression (it doesn’t make sense to get super amazing kitten armor at level 1), and most of the really generic stuff is low level that everyone gets rid of eventually.

I swear, sometimes, this forum software…
I just wish there were more variation. I like having choices. More full dresses (rather than open skirts + pants), better options in medium and heavy for form-fitted utilitarian armor rather than trenchcoats and metal skirts, etc etc. I’ve managed to puzzle out looks I like for all my champions, but it’s almost always a cobbled-together mixture of mid-level armors. I hate the light armors for human males. With a passion. I’m not surprised to see a glut of skirts for females but guys too? Those should exist, but do they really have to be 90% of my options?

There is a reason I didn’t pick a guy, the girls had way better armor :P
I agree, there should definitely be more choices, and I am sure there will be in time. I think its an issue of at launch, they could only have so much, and it wasn’t subject to community appraisal (to my knowledge); they couldn’t really know what people would like, they just had the small team looking at it. Now that they see what people like and what they want, they will be able to actually release it in the future when they release new sets (which is going to happen in every expansion).
One day maybe we’ll have half as many armor sets as we do dyes, that would give choices.
We don’t even need totally awesome complete sets, but just more sets in the same theme that are easy to mix and match pieces from, to create something unique you like. The trouble with there being so many ‘fine gentleman’ outfits, is that practically no pieces from any of those will mix with a more fantasy caster look, they just horribly clash. I’d just like to see some nice looking caster robes for a start.
Also agree, the female outfits are way better. Likely because AFAIK they were designed by a female, but they should have handed more of the male outfits over to a guy who is less interested in chars looking pretty.

I agree entirely with OPs sentiments. I use a mix of low level stuff (drybones & devout) and keep a modest appearance. Devout is probably the best we’ve got right now for a look like this, and I don’t think that’s likely to change. There usually isn’t much demand for ‘plain’ looking armor pieces in video games.
