LF a Support Necro Build
Nice try, anet developer.
I’m not telling you my build, so you can nerf it.
o.o Would be fun to be an A-net dev.. but I’m just a noob :P
I haven’t ever tried it (Though I’d love to) but from what I’ve seen, I’d imagine it revolves around Blood Magic with healing to other teammates via DS and Siphoning.
I may have to check it out myself.
I run a hybrid support build, which may be the way to go.
Important skills:
Well of Blood
Well of Power
+ any support skill for yourself
Important Traits:
Ritual of Life (you leave a well of blood when you revive someone)
Focused Rituals (you can target wells)
Ritual Mastery (optional, faster well recharge)
Ritual of Protection (optional, wells apply protection on allies in the well)
An alternative is speccing in blood magic, and having life transfer also heal allies. But unless you spec for it specifically, the healing isn’t that great. I don’t think going full support is the way to go for a necro, since the game is not balanced well for the support role. Especially the PVE game favors DPS. So a hybrid that does decent damage, and decent support in my opinion is a better alternative.

This is Nemesis’ support build. I’m not sure if it still works as well because of the patch but I think he’s eventually going to do an updated version.
Otherwise You can always just run a wells+marks build, they’re good in WvW.
Basically what Queen posted. Support builds revolve around wells, healing power, staff, and then other utilities depending on what kind of build/group you are looking at. They are okay, they heal absolute craploads, but the problem is our healing is all over time, not bursty, and people generally need burst heals in PvE.
Mind you, I don’t play pvp. I mostly do PVE, so I do not know how well a hybrid works in WvW or pvp.
I’ve heard a lot of people say that there is already a lot of burst healing and condition removal being tossed around in WvW. But I suppose dropping a well of blood or a well of power when charging a gate doesn’t hurt. If you’re in a zerg however, it’s probably hard to make healing over time from well of blood heal the mass of people running ahead of you. But I find dropping something like well of suffering on top of a group of enemies a lot easier.
In PVE however, it works pretty well. Targeted wells is a must however, because your team mates will be moving all over the place. And you don’t want to chase them around to remove a bit of burning.

I run a support build in WvW, but it is balanced between offense and support.
0/30/20/20/0 Chill on Blind/Targeted Wells/Terror, Staff Mastery/Gmarks, Transfusion/Well Reduction.
Full Rabid, Giver’s Weapons, Condition Duration food.
Scepter/Dagger(or Horn)/Staff, WoB/WoC/WoD/Spectral Wall/Plague.
If you want more support, change Terror to 30 in DM for Protection on wells, and use healing power. This is purely for WvW though, no idea what i would use for PvE.
Transfusion (DS #4 heals group) Well of Blood. Both get very good +heal power co-efficient.
Wells are very nice group support. Staff you can keep regen up on the meele. Poison can help with healing boss’s.
The problem with all this is, it’s only in bursts. Transfusion wont heal you as your in DS.
So it’s ‘X’ situation only. Guard/Ele/Mes cover the constant support better.
My advice, is skip heal power on gear. Focus mainly on doing decent damage, and a little burst support at the same time in the situations it’s needed.
In a PvE Power spec, Well of Suffering, dose nice dam, stacks vuln, gives a nice combo field to group.
We have a ‘few’ little tools like that, that an’t ‘best’ support or dps, but rock both worlds.
Transfusion (DS #4 heals group) Well of Blood. Both get very good +heal power co-efficient.
Unless that was changed in the last patch or two, transfusion doesn’t have a healing power coefficient.
As for group support, I think there’s a lot of potential in Plague Signet and Well of Power for group condition control.
It’s pretty obvious, and nobody’s impressed.
