So I dunno if this is a bug or as usual an oversight but seriously, reaper’s most abundant combo field combined with its most abundant finisher doesnt do half of what its supposed to in shroud.
Was I just being a kitten when i tested or does this seriously not siphon health through the leeching bolts.
Only the Blood Magic life leeches heal in shroud.
They should make it so ALL life leeches heal in shroud. =/
I think the leeching bolts themselves might be the issue.
I just did some quick testing in the PvP lobby. Got in combat with the golems, ran up the stairs, jumped down to get fall damage, cast Nightfall, went into Shroud, cast Soul Spiral, leeching bolts appeared – no healing.
However, when I did the same thing but with Gravedigger instead of Soul Spiral for the whirl finisher (i.e. being out of Shroud the whole time), I also didn’t receive any healing whatsoever.
Maybe I’m missing something obvious, but this seems like a bug to me.
Edit: nvm, I just did it again, because all this didn’t seem right to me and THIS time it worked out of shroud^^ I think I just got irritated by the combat log the first time I tried.

Yeah, only Blood Magic (not even all of it) and things specifically saying they heal through shroud actually heal through shroud. Sigils, runes, combos, regen, and even a fair number of traits don’t heal properly through shroud.
I’d call it bad design instead of irony. It may sound harsh but it is what it is. Things like these will only get worse until they sit down and think properly about Shrouds and their interaction with the rest of the game. The more time they take to do this, the more frustrated players will get because more skills will be added and more obvious these desing issues will get.
Edit: To be clear, I’m currenly studying game development and design, and I totally would love to work on Arenanet even with issues like this, remember that this game is HUGE and they have a lot to work on. They just need to be reminded every now and then the main issues we have and the fixes will come, I’m sure about this.

Interaction with the combo system should be something the profession does as a baseline. It’s an integral part of the GW2 combat system.
A trait that affects the system in some way would be neat, though!
I think we are lucky to have finishers at all.

The impact on 1v1s would be little to non. What they are cautious about (wrongly so) is scaling in team fights.
