Leveling a necro! Few Q!
Necromancer is actually pretty easy to level! Death Shroud can provide a good safety buffer when levelling, so you can get away with a few more mistakes than Mesmers. I’d recommend staff, dagger/warhorn for levelling, since that tends to give you a fair amount of damage with some flexibility for things like swiftness and CC.
I’ve been told minion master is a pretty solid build for levelling, since it adds damage and lets the minions tank for you a fair amount. But otherwise, for utilities I’d recommend Well of Suffering and Spectral Armor. They’re both 1 skill point, so you can get them immediately, and they provide a lot of power and defense.

I think Minion master is pretty decent forleveling. Axe/warhorn & staff or dagger/warhorn & staff is pretty ok for leveling. Staff and axe get you some range if you are getting touched in bad ways by mobs. Dagger is always nice for just killing. Your minons should protect you for the most part when leveling. Take ur minions, signet of the locust, and run around.
For all the gripes people have about Necros, they are easily one of the top three easiest professions to level (alongside Ranger and Warrior). Necros are thankfully rather self-sufficient.
I’ve always loved to level my necros with staff and dagger/X (warhorn here for speed, focus for vuln and regen, dagger for more dmg, i often changed the offhand weapon around)
I love that they are so tanky for a light armor class. They are the easiest to level imo among the three light classes.
Also, people don’t really like necros because they lack good group support, but when you level and do soloable content, this “selfish” class is great.

Minions are nice for leveling, it’s what I used when I leveled. It makes it easier to solo things that would be pretty hard otherwise. The AI is pretty bad, so when you get to 80 and start doing group content I’d suggest using wells instead since minions tend to get in the way and mess things up.

just load up up on power gear, grab a dagger/wh whatever other weapon combo you want and kill mobs. Leveling in this game is face roll easy on a necro, esp with deathshroud
