Q:
Hi. Kinda new to necro. I have some questions about DS and how life force works.
1)How much hp do I have while in DS? In other words, how much dmg can DS absorb?
2) I’ve heard life force pool increases with vitality? Any truth to that?
3) Is toughness factored when taking dmg in DS?
Thank you
EDIT: Life force POOL not PULL derped on that spelling there hehe

The currently accepted knowledge is that DS is equal to 60% of your HP, up to 78% if you have 30 SR. Therefore yes, it increases with vitality.
If by life force pull you mean the gains you get on skill use or deaths, then no, vitality won’t increase that, a trait will though. Like Bhawb said, vitality will increase your base LF pool, as in your total LF and he pretty much covered your DS health pool (your LF proportion to your normal hp). When it comes to toughness though, it certainly seems like we don’t have our total toughness. Once I can get back in game I want to test this but it’s not easy to do for PvE and sometimes values behave differently between pve and pvp. As for how much damage DS can absorb? it’s relative, really. You can either absorb all of one massive spike and eat all of your DS, or a small amount of sustained damage. DS is not good at soaking up sustained damage.
There isn’t a lot of transparency on the actual way that the math works, but here are the basics as I understand them.
1) Bhawb has it about right. The LF pool is affected by both vitality and Hunger. Nailing down the exact number is very difficult though, because there are some rounding anomalies that affect damage. This seems to have something to do with an internal conversion of raw damage to percentages, but no one has been able to confirm as far as I know.
2) If you mean the amount gained by skills, then technically yes. If you gain 3% Life force from using a particular skill then the effective HP gain increases as your maximum LF pool increases. For example 3% of 130 is more than 3% of 100.
3) Toughness affects direct damage taken while in shroud. Conditions act funny. See the bit about rounding errors in #1.
thx for the answers all very helpful!
