I’m looking for some help with a roaming 1vX build if there is such a thing for necro I currently run a condi build but wondering if there is something better out there as I’ve not had the best of luck. (Albeit I don’t play on my necro as often as I should to truly be good at the class)
So for starters this is my current gear & build. If there are tweaks let me know and if you want to suggest a whole other build/gear feel free so long as its not ascend I’d have no problem getting gear
or
1v1 I find I don’t do too badly but find myself running into issues when it becomes a 1v2+. I roam on engi/mesmer/warr and I just can’t seem to compete with them in terms of survivability 1vX.
Are there any power/crit well necro’s out there who roam?
Thanks for any replies guys feel free to pm if you want to share a personal build.
PS. If you know any good resources twitch/youtube that may help I’d appreciate that as well.
I can already see a change to make… the sigil of earth is redundant with 10 in DM will be putting in a sigil of battle or hydromancy.

1. I don’t see why sigil of earth is redundant because of 10 in DM, but yeah… hydromancy>earth.
2. If you max your kill stacks, get a second off hand dagger with a different sigil.
3. Hemophilia is weak sauce in WvW. I’m surprised you don’t run Terror already, so take that instead.
4. You have Signet Mastery because of one single signet, and Spectral Mastery because of one spectral skill: not worth it!
I’d go Reaper’s Might (or Spiteful Spirit) and Path of Midnight instead.
5. If you already have 10 in Soul Reaping, you might want to consider adding another 5 points for Last Gasp because that trait is baws. Maybe even 20 for any of the master tier traits in that line. Unless you really want to have Staff Mastery, that is.
6. Get some carrion pieces. Mixing vitality with toughness is more effective than going with just one of them. This will also increase your direct damage.
7. Get Perplexity runes. They are basically undead runes with some free confusion.
If you do that: either pick up Spectral Grasp and/or the warhorn (for the 6th bonus interrupt), or just buy 5x Perplexity and 1 Crest of the Rabid.
8. Plague is fine if you play in groups, but if you are solo roaming: always take the golem.
9. In light of the fact that you want to fight 1vX, your other utilities should be a lot more aoe heavy. I’m not saying your utilities are bad, but mix them up with Epidemic, some wells or Spectral Wall. And most importantly: change them on the fly, different situations in WvW require different skills. Adept to a fight by changing skills before going into combat.
10. Practice 1v1s. Seek out strong opponents and challenge them to duels. The better you are doing against single players, the better you will be against many.
This sounds like something Captain Obvious would say, but it’s a little more true for the necro than for other classes. You don’t have invulnerability skills or stealth, so not only do you need to facetank everything that comes at you, but your timing becomes increasingly more important against multiple opponents if you want to stand a chance at surviving. And timing is something you can perfect in 1v1s.

Yes, there are.
If you’re roaming, a condi build is probably easier to pull off as a new or casual necro player though.
I would suggest you take Epidemic if you plan to win any 1vX situations, where X is larger than 2.
My personal feelings on the matter are to not solo roam a necro though. You are going to be the weakest (or close to it) class when it comes to being successful in that environment.
You cannot leap or stealth or blink. You cannot break combat unless you happen to have a slow class (engineer/guardian/other necro) chasing you.
To your point, having roamed on other classes good at roaming and getting away, you will hate it on necro.
On the flip side, we are nearly unbeatable right now in open field 1v1, if you consider them running away to be winning. That certainly counts for something.
This is my hybrid build that i’ve had a lot of success with in WvW, whether its 2v2 1v1 or 1vX
Recently i’ve just been runnin pretty glass cannon tho

I disagree 100% with taking golem over plague in an outnumbered situation. If you ever want to actually stomp someone, you need plague. Plus, the AOE blinds are invaluable if you need to wait for your heal to come back up. Golem has it’s niche uses but it pales in comparison to plague.

Roaming and 1vX is building so that you can have escapes and disengages if you need them. 1v2’s are probably doable on any class if you have the skill to do so and your opponent’s aren’t very skilled. With all your cooldowns up then you should be able to fight any class 1v1 but 1v1’s then turn into 1v2,1v3,1v4’s etc.
I have a thief, mesmer, warrior, elementalist (all capable of excellent roaming 1vX’) I have my necro who is capable of 1vX and roaming but you will just die more often because your 1v2 turned into 1v5 rather quickly and you don’t have outs.
Thief has stealth and mobility
Mesmer has stealth and stalls and clones
Warrior has mobility (probably best in the game if it wasn’t for stealth) built right can’t really be cc’d.
Ele has mobility and good on demand emergency healing, good utilities to get out of a jam.
The Necro pretty much has fear as the best disengage. I haven’t played a power necro yet with warhorn but I don’t really see 10 secs of swiftness getting you very far.
So you can build to 1vX but when your 1vX becomes 1v5 you just have to fight it out and hope the enemy sucks. All my other classes have the tools to disengage that aren’t utilities necros don’t really have that outside of a 10 sec warhorn swiftness.

Like I said, Plague is fine if there’s an ally who can capitalize on the blind spamming but if you are alone it’s the worst elite you can have.
All you get out of it is a wasted elite slot to artificially reduce the cooldowns of other skills.
Plague is not the only way to stomp with stability as a necro btw, but for the sake of the argument: I don’t think your efficiency in outnumbered battles is increased if you can stomp 1 player every 3 minutes.

My original build I’m sure I over focused on my raising my condi dmg as much as possible and self buffing to 2431. I did swap out to a battle sigil and have a 3rd weapon with bursting(+6%condi dmg) on it when I get 25 stacks.
Thanks for the suggestions. I’ll be trying out a new build with your input
Was sent this build to try out as well.
Lol thanks for posting it my man. I forgot to tell you this, but when you stack all sigils and use the Blood is Power you have almost 3000 power and 1900 condition damage.
