Greetings necromancers,

I have recently leveled a human necromancer up to level 51 (using crown’s pavilion zerg farm), and until now, I played as a minion master. I was having fun with it until I started to face stronger monsters with nasty AoE attacks and I saw that I was spending more time resurrecting my pets than actually dpsing. I know that healing power gear is excellent to keep your pets alive, but I kinda wanted to try a real DoT necro, condition damage (or duration?) based.

I have heard that the conditionmancer is excellent for good AoE DoTs, so I wanted to try it. However, I am a bit confused regarding traits and skills I should be using. Scepter/Dagger and Wells? Staff? Also, the traits can be deceiving (for an amateur like me at least), so if you could add traits in your tips I would greatly appreciate. Should I be working with Wells or just Corruption spells?

Thanks in advance.

What MM build were you using ?
’m a MM ( in both gw1 and gw2 ).
I got 5 80es characters ( MM necro , trapper ranger , demolisher engineer , cleric guardian , signet/shout/banner warrior ).
I think that MM is the best one and I’m the last man standing in dungeons.
In PvP , I can kill any one ( I killed 4 players at once while camping ).
You just need to know how to control them and keep them alive.
My build >> http://tinyurl.com/mw4pqgj
Soldier armor ( mixed with Knight ) will grant you much Toughness and some Vitality so you won’t worry if they killed ur minions.
begin the fight with staff ( land all marks ) then switch to dagger/focus ( you will get might when switching ) , use 4th and 5th skills , 3rd to immobilize your foe , transform to DS and use 5th skills and 3rd ( to increase 5th skill damage by 200% ) , after that use 4th skill to heal your minions , 2nd to tele to your foe , return to your normal form and spam dagger chain attack , then switch to staff …… and so on.. ( This is how I play )
(Remember that Dagger chain attack is the strongest attack for necros even than axe )

All 80es > MM necro is my best ,cleric
guard ,nades eng ,Trap thief \ranger ,signet\shout warrior, zerk mes\ele & shiro rev.

I also love the MM, and is really nice to roam the wilderness on PvE, but in dungeons and other boss-oriented places, the minion value is almost zero.

Demonic Spirit, I am happy for you if you are the LMS in dungeons. That says that you are a very good player. But I doubt that your minions are helping you out on that, since normally they will die with the first aoe strike of the boss.

Manzazuu, the condimancer is probably the most-used necro build, and is very strong in DoT in big fights. Use of scepter is almost required, but you have some freedom in the other weapons (although imho the staff is a must-be in almost every necro build).

I tried to play a condimancer, but I found it very slow killing single enemies, so I switch to a powermancer (with tough, not prec), and had been happy since then.

I suggest to you that pick a condimancer and a powermancer builds from the forum (there is a thread for the builds) and test them yourself. And when you decide which one you like the most, then start adding them your personal touches.

I wanna suggest you either change your trinkets to knight (if you really want crit chance) or soldier. Don’t know why you took cavalier as the 18% crit dmg increase on a 4% crit chance is kinda useless.

I run a full soldier build for MM; soldier gives you vit (which also increases your life force bar) instead of the crit % from cavalier.

I know that I must get full soldier gear from dungeons ( farming ) or via WvW badges ( farming and its too hard to get 860 badges just for accessories !)

You can get all soldier accessories with karma as well; the Temple of Grenth karma vendor sells them for 42k a piece.

They just increases all karma gain with yesterdays patch so shouldn’t be all too hard to get enough karma (and if you wvw you get badges and karma).
