LvL 45 Necro. Wvw, This class appears to be very weak....
Well lets say it this way, when my mesmer was lvl20 I could enter WvW and stomp people in full exotic lvl80 gear, when my necro was lvl20 I hoped that nobody targets me in the enemy zerg.

So this class is in fact weak then? I was going by the fact that I just suck and do not understand what the proper rotations are…
nope the class is just weak, sad but true.
Hi, 80 necro here. Been running PvE (Minion Build) and Dungeons (Condition Build) and have been having a blast.
WvW I’ve played only a little before I hit 80, but my take is (and I’ve only played WvW using my conditon build — Scepter/Dagger + Staff):
1. Very difficult to take on enemies one on one (unless you get lucky and catch them offguard)
2. Difficult to kill as our damage output is relatively lower than what other classes can do in the same amount of time
3. My build is focused on Conditions so it takes time to drain health of enemies. I don’t have much in precision but than again I dont really need it
That being said, I believe the necro does well in terms of:
1. Helping defend/controlling territory — when there are ppl rushing to a tower and you have a good team w arrow carts and what not, it’s useful to drop condition after condition and see lots of small #s fly.
2. I have yet to experiment, but I’d imagine if you pump up power, the Wells would be helpful as well (blind, corrupt boons on enemies, remove conditons on allies)
If you’re looking to roam free and solo and get lots of kills by yourself in WvW, you’re going to have a bad time.
If you’re OK with supporting your team in making the other side bleed non-stop and make it hard for them to fight your allies, then I think Necs are a good fit.
Again, I havent tried any DS/dagger/damage build — but the above is from my experiences GOODLUCK!

- Torothin’s rotation: Signal of spite, epidemic, main sceptor ability, and then fast of corruption.
try this one for PVE stacking conditions…
- Weapons: Scepter / Dagger + Staff
- Rotation:
- Scepter/Dagger
- Blood is Power
- Deathly Swarm
- Enfeebling Blood
- Grasping Dead
- Evade using the trait Mark of Evasion
- Enter DS using the trait Weakening Shroud
- Use 2,3, exit DS
- Autoattack 3 times
- Epidemic if enemies are on range before target 1 dies
- Staff on demand

Necro’s certainly have issues with various parts of this game — a fair number of bugs and lack of diversity in its builds.
But WvW is not one of our issues — our AoE damage is among the strongest in the game, and will get better when Greater Marks is fixed.
Staff with S/D, condition damage, WoC, Epidemic, and a third utility of your choice makes for impressive AoE damage and control. In those large battles you should also almost always have a huge amount of life force if you get targetted.
Specifically one thing I see is that you epidemic after sigil of spite — you’d get much more mileage by stacking bleeds prior to epidemic, or just assisting an enemy with a great amount of conditions already applied.

They are hashes displays a very solid rotation.
Though, in general, Necros are primarily support-based. While you can take this for being ‘weak’ with precious little to work with in 1v1, you can easily use your skills to turn the tide of any skirmish or large battle.
Placing your 2-4 Staff marks in melee combat (especially the spammable 2 mark) easily shifts weight in favor of your team. The 5 mark (fear) is a great tool to both buy time when you are targeted, buy a few seconds relief from enemy reinforcement, and to buy some siege relief when people build too close to the wall – which is supremely disruptive.
In general, pets are pretty worthless. The exploding minions sound like a nice idea, but their utility is severely crippled due to the bug with nova. The other minions will either die too fast to be useful, or won’t target what you need to. Solid utility is Epidemic, Spectral Wall, Blood is Power, and Spectral Armor.
A well placed Epidemic alone is enough to cripple an enemy skirmish and disrupt a section of a front line.
Epidemic is lollerific when it comes off just right.

as a necro in WvW, you will basically spent your time
a) using wells/staff on cooldown
b) frantically targetting enemies every second, to see how has a large stack of conditions on them – > epidemic
c) asking yourself why the hell you rolled that class instead of any of the other 7
> c) asking yourself why the hell you rolled that class instead of any of the other 7
This.

Signet of Spite is terrible, all the conditions last 5 seconds. This is barely enough time to get an epidemic off, and even after it goes off, being super debuffed is cool, but if you’re only super debuffed for 5 seconds, it’s a waste of a utility trait
In a condition build I personally use Plague Signet, Epidemic, Corrupt Boon. If you can corrupt a full line of Guardian boons and then epidemic, it is light years stronger than signet of spite. It just takes more patience!

Necromancers are an attrition Profession. (or at least meant to be!)
While Necromancers can live for extremely long they don’t deal amazing damage.
If you were expecting to stack a zillion conditions super fast that’s not what Necromancers really shine at.
However Necromancers are very good at manipulating existing conditions and boons.
Our Chills and Cripples are very nice, too!
When you notice that your team has put 10-20 Bleeds on somebody that’s the perfect time to use Epidemic.
It’s even better if you have multiple Necros and they use Epidemic as well.
The Conditions are actually copied, not transferred… Meaning you can pretty much double the conditions.
An example:
Person A has 10 stacks of bleed and gets hit by Epidemic. It copies them to Person B.
Person B then gets hit by Epidemic by an another Necro. Person A now has 20 stacks of Bleed!
If you see an enemy Guardian draw conditions with “Save yourselves!” hit him with Epidemic and it spreads them right back.
Corrupt Boons can be hilarious on them!
Just watch out for the amazing condition removal some of them bring with them.
As far as weapons go I usually use Staff with the Greater Marks and Staff Mastery traits when in WvW.
The Marks all hit an area so in a huge battle you are likely to hit multiple targets.
Mark of Blood is a good mark to just spam a lot near the frontlines.
Chillblains is good for it as well, and it’s also great for escaping or catching escaping players.
Putrid Mark is super helpful at helping your frontline allies or against harassing Thieves.
Reaper’s Mark interrupts Stomps and Revives and also helps at escaping.
It also just buys some time when taking or defending a Tower or a Keep.
I switch between Staff and Scepter+Dagger whenever it makes sense to me.
Wells are very good but have long cooldowns.
Just remember to get the trait that makes them ground targeted if you want to use them.
Well of Darkness for example is extremely powerful.
Even more so when combined with the trait that makes Blind also Chill people.
Watch two Zergs clash, slap a Well of Darkness in a good spot and enjoy the show.
Every foe stuck in it will move at a snail’s pace and miss every hit that doesn’t hit faster than once per second.
Edit:
Oh and Spectral Walk is priceless if you want to actually want to make a profit.

My WvW necro build is here: As above. I use cripple/bleeds/wells/marks non stop then epidemic in zergs and lol. Necros turn battles in WvW all the time. DS into a zerg, drop all your AOE Epi, plague out back to your team as they rush forward to support you.
Also marks and AOe works underneath towers, bridges and other platforms great for killing seige
