It is common knowledge that necro spells have underwhelming animations. We don’t summon giant fireballs. We don’t summon a spell book. etc.
So what necro needs is animation of “Magic Symbols” when we cast a spell. It just make everything look more powerful. (see below)
It fits the necro theme, because the magic symbols are usually linked with the dark arts.

What are 1,3,4? Haven’t follow animes for a while.
But I support this
Maybe not in those light, we can have a “dark matter” version.
is that touhou game?
is that touhou game?
Bingo.
I know the girl in the 4th picture is Alice Margatroid. Not sure who the rest are.

1 is also Touhou (one of the quadzillion charas they got) and im pretty sure that 3 is just oc art.

Sad >_>
Thought I can find something to watch on my way to home.

If you want something funny that just finished, Watamote.
What has Necromancer to do with these qeerish mangas and animes?
Absolutely not.
Those are way too overblown for GW2. They’d need to be signifigantly less showy and silly looking.
Also, that’s pretty much exactly what Elementalist Glyphs are, so… not really all that unique either.

While its not watchable gameplay , you should listen to the soundtracks I find them very enjoyable and regularly listen them to Gw2 .
Mokuo, eirin, flandre scarlet, cirno, suwako theme to name some. And since theyre popular, theres many covers/remixes if ur into that
@CHIPS
Since Gw2 already has too many effects/spirits/asuras flying around, I dont think a bullet-hell-game is a good example not against idea though
I think his idea is more so that glyphs show up when we cast, since we basically do nothing but make wavy hand movements for our other stuff.

Yes that’s all I wanted. Maybe give them a dark green grow to show how evil we are. :P

There is an alternative animation, which is having spirits around the necromancer each time he/she cast a spell. In this version, the necro draws power from the underworld.
Oh is it time to post funny pictures that still dont make sense, ok then here are mine:

I think magic symbols and spirits fits the necor theme really well. You are welcome to post your own suggestions. ^^
eh that looks pretty lame. I would hate to see those effects coming from my necro lol
Would be pretty cool but with the cast times necro already has I wouldn’t want anything that would be easier to spot in pvp. All the hand waving we do is tell enough.
I think that it’d be cool to have those magic symbols, but Mesmer Mantra charging animations are pretty much that already.
They draw symbols in the air and speak a chant when charging one.
I think it could increase readability if unique symbols appeared above us for our skills that otherwise have very little animations with them, for the purpose of PvP. Keeping track of CDs is a big thing in PvP, and there are a few abilities (mainly staff) that are really hard to keep track of because its all the same basic animation. So even if it appeared after the cast (so it wouldn’t make it easier to dodge) it would help people know if that mark I just used was worthless (MoB) or if I’m down a big cleanse (Putrid).
None of the examples posted in this thread have looked terribly necro-ish at least not in the Guild Wars style. However in GW1 most necro spells (and most spells in general) had some sort of symbol that would appear above or around the character as they cast.
for example: http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/f/ff/Deathly_Chill_animation.gif
So I’d certainly be for more spell visual effects drawing on that idea.
I support this thread, nice ideas. As a caster class, necro’s skills are far behind elementalist’s skills in terms of visuality.

With how little damage they do in comparison, i think its a fair trade.
