hey there guys
a returning player here
im a guy who really spends 90% of his time in mmos on his main and id like to main a necro.
however i keep hearing necro is trash in raids/fracts/wvwvw now which IMO wont make him a viable main
how true is that statement?

Every class is trash when your only frame of mind is dps, except thief and ele.

Ignore those people and play w/e the hell you want.

Actually Necromancer is hardly trash at anything. We’re in a comfortably average place for most parts of the game. Necros are actually great in high end fractals and WvW. What miffs people is the fact that we bring average dps with little to no party support.

Raids: we still have uses in ones we were used in before (vg/sloth/matthias/xera). Other more dps heavy fights are still usually restricted but groups will still allow us.
Fractals: you often see “condi necro only” parties for t4s. We are arguably kings of pug t4 fractals.
WvW: I can’t say much for roaming, but the current zerg meta is ultra tanky with necros spamming conditions and epidemic bombing. It has made lots of people qq about how powerful epidemic and necro is.

So no we are in a pretty good state for those modes I’ve listed.

By Average, you mean lower than every class in the game with the same stats.

This. Not to mention, balance patches tend to buff and nerf professions, so the “best” is always different. Every profession is viable, you just have to ignore elitists. Play the profession YOU like, not what OTHER people like!

The statement is totally wrong. Necro have a place in Raids (shining specially in Gorserval). Fractlals have some parties asking for only condi Necro. Since Viper and Sinister gear was introduced alongside Reaper esp. and Condi damage buff Reaper Necros have an easy time running PvE content. WVW is something I don’t play a long time ago.

Necromancer has always been a staple in WvW, and I don’t think that will change any time soon.
