We could make it transform with an animation. (keeps health and cooldown of charge).

Kind of like how the Ranger pets change, that could work. Something has to change, i dont know any other class that elite ability goes on a FULL cool down for simply going into water.
Just make him some swimming animations. Hell, I wouldn’t even mind if he permanently stayed in that stupid falling animation while he swam, and attacks just magically happened in front of him. But it really doesn’t make sense to limit all elite options underwater.
And someone who is better on lore can correct me on this next bit, but I’m like 95% sure a Lich could handle being underwater as well.

Yeah earlier i went through water for MUCH longer and he nearly survived until i got to the other side, this time dead within seconds…

That would be quality
No Risen would make sense, we don’t make Risen (or anything like them). Also, in general they are too cool for us to have. We’d probably get something more like a big Tuna, but only a skeleton of one with organs filling the ribcage.

ANYTHING is better than the current system. I couldnt care if it was a giant pink tuna that spits rainbows as long as it WORKED

As long as it works under water and doesnt bug out (have to actually say that coz this is Anet and they love bugs!) then i am fine with it.
This is something we necros ask for since relaese, so ether they dont want that or its really low on their to do list.
I think the second one is the more likely (like everything concerning necros… ).

Agreed, with the limited water skills, minions tend to be the best universal option under water, and yet our only elite choice for underwater kills minions! I want Golem, or as mentioned above, shark or something like that. C’mon how hard would that be really?

they don’t they just start swimming. The flesh worm is lost when you go underwater but since it doesn’t move it is not considered bad.

As long as you have those minions equipped on your underwater utility bar no, they just hop in and swim with you.

They only die if you dive down, if you stay on the surface where your skills disappear, they will swim underwater beside you. Ol Fleshy though melts like the Stay-Puff Marshmallow Man on Venus soon as a few drops splash on him.

As long as you have those minions equipped on your underwater utility bar no, they just hop in and swim with you.

Actually, a major theme often present in the portrayals of necromancy and the undead is their inability to cross running water. I’m thinking specifically about the Sabriel books by Garth Nix, which are more or less the reason I love necromancers, but I know other examples exist.
That being said: in guild wars this doesn’t seem to have ever been a problem. I love how mesmers have 3 underwater elites and necros have one. I wouldn’t mind being allowed to take my golem or lich form into water because right now, and I always feel like my aquatic dps is really low.
Ya I don’t think that’s a problem, considering the Risen literally spawn out of moving water in certain areas.
Lore wise i am sure its not a problem. I think the main reason is simple there are no underwater animations for the golem. If i remember correctly, then at some point in the beta you could use the golem (and the worm) underwater but he had no animations. My guess is, that they were close to release and didnt have the time to add the animations and lets be honest there are still many problems with the game that are more important than a necro elite…
So this is probably a low prioity thing…
Maybe if we cry loud and long enough they will add the animations…
Yes Wurm used to be usable underwater, IIRC he just kind of… magically moved around. He wasn’t stuck to anything, he just kind of popped out of nothing and moved around. It definitely was not launch-ready.
Yes. Allow the golem to work underwater, transform to another critter, bring it back when we exit water or reset the skill if it was alive when we went into water would all be a much better solution. Killing it and putting the skill on cooldown for simply touching water is a bad mechanic.

This is so annoying… Sometimes I feel like I cant even use Golem because of the need to travel through water in wvw and that one spvp map.

Most annoying thing (to me) is that I have managed (once) to swim a long way without losing my Flesh Golem in Frostgorge Sound. The area between the Ice Flow waypoint and the Slough of Despond waypoint is the length I am talking about.

Eh, they’re so disposable.
It is getting rather annoying that because i have to go through water for what ever reason that my Elite is put on maximum cool down, really!? This SHOULD have been changed a long time ago.
While they are at making Flesh Golem useable in water, maybe give it a nice skin as well and by nice i mean one that doesnt look like it was designed by a child upon being told “design the worst looking monster you can”

And the model. Geez! The model. The Fleshy de-volved from GW1. GW1 Golem model is FAR superior looking tothe GW2 model. It was something fearsome looking.

What is worse it isnt even consistent! Some times you go through water and it dies instantly, some times it dies at the end and others it doesnt even die at all…
Personally, i think all the Necromancer minion are poorly designed. Same goes for Ranger pets, they are all cliche and dull looking.
