GS looks great. The transform / life force effect looks awesome. So far I’m pretty impressed.
I’m really digging the chill-based additions. My chillmancer will be a beast.

Been sitting on my runes of ice and sigil of ice for a couple weeks now in anticipation for this, good to know i wasnt wrong. With the new spite minor applying 5 stacks of vuln whenever we apply chill, i can see us throwing around max stacks of vuln fairly easily in pvp depending on how much extra chill we get with new stuff.
Edit: Depending on if we become a huge threat ppl might actually start using runes of svanir(-50% chill duration) just for us, which makes me sad since that one rune alone can hurt chill effectiveness quite alot. Oh and classes like warr+chronomancer with 25/33% chill reduction traits on top of that…..and -condi duration food in wvw……..

Shouts were pretty much the common consensus of what we would get, and I think a change to Death Shroud skills was inevitable too after seeing the “F” skills get changed for Guardian and Mesmer. It’s a bit hard to see how it fits in with the class as a whole at the moment though, without seeing the actual skills, shouts and traits. But first impressions are “looks cool, will wait and see”.
And yes, the teaser video for Reaper looks 100 times better than the Dagonhunter one, good job there. The Death Shroud scythe looks awesome. Slightly more hype after watching a second time.

Better start playing power all the time
It looks really cool, but there are some things that were mentioned – such as long cast times and being slow – that bothers me a bit. Long cast times = easy to interrupt, so hopefully we get some stability or other effect to help us there. It also seems like we’re not really getting anything in the form of group support.
I’ll wait until I see the stream tomorrow before I judge this though, it has the potential to be good and it has the potential to be “meh”. Doubt it makes our current situation any worse though, but will it be much of an improvement?
Love it, no complaints. Is my world nao. And a neat little shout to play with for my MM build.

It sure looks cool. But looking cool will not give you a spot in PvE meta. Hopefully some of the utilities and/or traits come with decent group utility.

necro’s “i’m the slowest of all casters” issue doesn’t seem to be going away. Unless reaper gets some solid stability we’ll be looking at horror ragdoll, not horror monster.

Well they did say they wanted a big bad monster from horror movie feel for us. Most of the time the monsters in horror movies dont get stopped by much(cc), they just move slow themselves. So good chance we will be getting that defiance bar imo.

Chilled isn’t a condition that benefits from condition damage. The only thing that affects it is condition duration and that is getting removed from the trait lines. This is why Hammer Medi Guardians benefitted from glacial heart (hammer criticals have a chance to apply chilled) because they don’t run condition damage and they do run precision.
Also, they did say that Death Shroud skills were changing, but that the traits that affected each skill would still affect the replacement skill, or something to that extent. It would be more melee focused though.

Horror movie monsters are typically portrayed as slow yet unstoppable. I think it’s a safe assumption that necros will be the class to gain a defiance bar for one of the grandmaster traits.
Mhh the best other traitlines for the reaper will be spite and soul reaping i guess?

Sounds like dark path is being made into a Dash, so if you have some LF it does sound like it could add to mobility. We’re also missing some abilities that haven’t been discussed at all yet.

One slight concern is that if you want to spec into Reaper but not use a greatsword, the first minor trait in the spec changes all of your death shroud skills to the new melee reaper ones. Could be a bit awkward if you want to make a scepter/staff build using Reaper traits (if that’s a thing).

Trooper runes specifically say they remove a condition from each affected ally… And if the Necromancer shouts affect no allies, then it will logically remove no conditions. They may change Trooper runes in anticipation of this elite spec, however, so who knows. I’ll try to ensure it gets asked during the live stream tomorrow.

Slow casting?! Did you consider other weapons beside staff? or you want a spam-style game, possibly with skills like Ranger’s LB skill 2 without any cd?
No group support?! ofc, if you don’t wanna offer any. Otherwise, wells that clear condi, aoe heals, and the cc’s of the necro are, if I dare say so, desireable group support. You can’t give portals and Icy Bows to all classes, hm?!
No mobility… Sure! Must give them some portals?! some shadowsteps maybe? (not that it’s a properly functioning mechanic anyway) Or precisely what?!
You have speed signet, you have a tp, you have swiftness skills, you have multiple hp pools, summons, fast attacks, strong dps, strong conditions, decent group support. I don’t know what you’re smoking, but I really want some of that stuff!
I have to say that I am really impressed with the devs on this one. Everything looks very exciting and I can’t wait!
A chill based mechanic seems to me to be such a great idea. I think it has obvious pvp/wvw applications, but it has a lot of pve applications as well as far as fun herding/kiting. As I said in another thread, it you have GS as one weapon and dagger/dagger as the other weapon for the increased speed, this just seems really fun.

I am also worried about slow attacks, it seems like they will be slower than we have now and even now thief can blind/dodge every our relevant thing and by the time we cast a thing we can get bursted 100→0%. And hope you still can do condition build with this specialization.

Didn’t you read their blog post? One of their Shouts will summon jagged horrors. Combine that with Death Nova and maybe bone minions and you could get a pretty nice “spam minion bombs” build.
They gave us a shout that raises jagged horrors but did they also fix the minion AI??

While I agree with you on most, the support that necros are lacking is offensive support. The ability to blast or provide fire fields, the ability to grant might and/or fury to allies, unique buffs like spotter, empower allies etc. Their damage is on par with everyone else they just dont bring anything to the party that someone else already has without hindering the party ( wells overwritting firefields, 2 target cleave, fear moving stuff etc)
