Minion Genius Volsa's SPVP Build
And what about the situation when your minions will decide not to attack your target and stand idle?
Also, it may be a bug on my side, but I can’t see your trait build.
Use google chrome and you should see it fine, seems to be an issue with internet explorer.
As for minions not attacking, the weapon choice seems to resolve the issue. You’re basically in melee most of the time and I haven’t had an issue yet. As long as you enter combat when they’re in agro range of the target they seem to work for the most part.
I will say it’s not a build for someone looking to be the best necro ever. If you are, this is not the build for you. This build is so you can slap it together and do quite well with very little knowledge of the class or abilities, something that judging by the forums is needed. And for that the people I got to test it found it easy to be successful with little effort, and not dead the whole match. That’s what I designed this for, and feedback I have gotten says I succeeded.
First issue is Spiteful Talisman doesn’t work.
Second issue is the pets are really stupid.
I run a minion build, even though I know it’s terrible, and I’m telling you it’s terrible.
You don’t even have minion 30% damage bonus lol
Well if he’s trying a tanky build I assume he’s also got full blood since he did want to siphon life (I can’t see traits I’m at work) so 30/30 in death/blood is probably what he went to for survivability, this would get a build up to around 30k hp with the right amulet and sigils. Now if only minions would actually siphon life.

This is very close to my build but I have 20 in spite because a minion master without the 30% damage buff is short changing himself IMO.
Kid said you didn’t have it so I thought that would be why. Can’t see the build atm unfortunately but yeah, 20 spite/ 30 in death and 20/blood is the usual minion build. If you want more power you can trade blood for something else, and if you want tankiness you can trade spite for the 30 in blood and probably 10 in DS up to the user.

I don’t know who you PvP against but even with 50% HP bonus the minions get literally insta killed from any class doing aoe. Bone Minions will be dead first, followed by Shadow Fiend (you might get lucky and get a blind off). Flesh Golem will probably live the longest and you’ll actually get to time a good knockdown but the Bone Fiend will be aoe food and the Blood Fiend will die the same way. Takes 5 seconds to kill all of your minions and completely destroy this build (believe me, I run it so I know) and while you wait 16 seconds for your Bone Minion/Blood Fiend to come up you are already dead because you don’t even run Spectral Walk or anything that breaks stun.
Not sure who you are facerolling with that build but they must be the warriors who use 6 passive signets.
I got rid of Shadow Fiend and run Spectral Walk, it’s mandatory.
I also run Staff and Axe/Focus or Warhorn (depending on situation so I can stack vuln up or horde lifeforce) and Staff is mandatory as well.
You don’t have access to any form of swiftness or any form of break stun. You are simply free food to every class in the game. Sorry =(
Downed enemies rezz on jagged horrors and easily killed minions, even in PVP, don´t they?
@Lockdown
yep.. but that’s pretty much known and an unavoidable penalty
Well, then I personally can´t see any reason to PVP with a minionmancer who´s giving out free rezzes to enemy players.
A minionmancer is actually pretty tough to kill in my experience, have over 200 hours of gameplay here and burst classes usually can’t beat my minion build. It’s the not working traits and the AI that makes the build lacking.

For minion control. Click target you want minions to attack. Press 1 on said target. TO stop minion attack. De-click target- Press 1
when I click the link I get to the page, but there is a blank white box covering most of the screen, and it scrolls with the page… wtf ??

Try using chrome =)
Couple issues -
#1. I found Warhorn to be a lot better for PvP then Focus. The speed boost + AoE snare is great for daggers and the Daze is clutch.
#2. 30% Minion Damage Trait. You don’t have it.
#3. Staff is fantastic for Group PvP. You don’t have it as a primary or secondary. I assume you’re making this primarily for a 1v1 which would make your other choices more feasible.
#4. Minion AI. It’s horrible right now.
#5. You get a lot more bang for your buck slotting Toughness and Vitality then going all out Vitality. However this will require you to probably get rid of a minion or two to make it feasible. Minion trait + Dagger Secondary isn’t enough to cleanse / redirect.
My 2 cents.

Seems solid. I run quite similar setup though with that 30% damage from spite and death nova from death. though not sure how i can leave sceptre dagger behind for daggerfocus event though on my alt necro i level using them and it has been quite good though risky.
@ Nismu – If you’re running the blood traits might as well use dagger for the extra siphon, if you’re running blood+death you should have a high health pool and not be too afraid to take a couple of hits since the siphon should grant some more survival while your minions do damage.
For focus I prefer to use it with axe, which also has that aoe cripple/retaliation skill, this helps stack vulnerability, good for minions to get increased damage.

To the person who said it seemed like a 1v1 build, it mostly is. The thought behind is that it’s a really easy to play build to help new necros build up pvp experience before moving onto their own builds.
1v1 is what you see a lot of new pvpers doing, basically running around killing randomly until they figure out objectives.
The minions stay up fairly well, I personally pop my little guys when someone gets downed and stomp right away, otherwise when they get up they have half health and you’re still full anyhow.
I agree that staff is amazing in pvp, your dagger does good damage, but the main bonus is a relatively fast cd life steal that ticks on you for 312, giving about 3k health and doing about the same in damage.
You don’t even need all the minions attacking at once simply because most of what they are for is stealing boons, clearing your conditions and healing you.
A pleasant side effect though when you are with teammates, is asurans are hard a hell to target past your rock dog and minions.
With any build, you should ALWAYS tailor it for the little changes that suit you. Builds are a guideline, never a rule.
again, considering the minions bug out very often and just don’t attack.. how are they siphoning hp for you and removing boons? Your pets are simply fodder and you don’t run a single skill for survivability.. you don’t even run Flesh Wurm for the teleport which also has a break stun =/
Putting aside the fact minion AI is a disaster right now, I would avoid using any form of build that uses minions, and to an extent, even the Death Magic tree entirely, because of Reanimator. As soon as someone is downed, anyone with half a brain will just slap one of your minions or Jagged Horrors to death and rally from it which can completely turn the tide of team fights. Or if they even unintentionally tag a pet with an AoE and it’s then killed or a Jagged Horror just dies over time while they’re downed, they rally off that, too. This also includes your Lich Form “Mark of Horror” ability. Until Anet changes it so people can’t rally off killing pets, you’ll end up being more of a liability to your team than an asset in a lot of situations by using pets.
