Q:

Hi all. Yes, I am aware that the necros are a " bit" bugged atm, but regadless of that fact, I have a question about my gear. ASSUMING that the minion AI and bugs in the life siphoning ect. are fixed, what kind of armor/weapon stats would benefit me the most?

Currently I plan on getting
20 Spite
30 Death Magic
20 Blood Magic
with the basic traits: Training of the Master, Minion Master ect. So I get
+200 Power
+300 Toughness
+200 Vitality
I was running first with D/D and Staff, but I decided to now try A/F + Staff.

Now… what should I wish from my armor? Shoulkittenep pumping up my toughness? Or should I focus more on Power? That being asked, what runes and sigils would you recommend? Should I pay attention to critical damage dealing? Or condition damage?

I focus on PvE, mainly going solo, occationally bumping to people. I don’t care for PvP.
(And for the success of this build, I HOPE they FIX the current bugs necros have.)

Few advices:
- Use staff and scepter+dagger or focus, axe sucks because it’s weak and have little range, dagger in main hand is better but for MM best weapon is staff
- Traits are good, but pick up staff mastery instead of death nova, cloud of poison is weak and staff skills are important for your minions, and Reaper’s Might instead of Spiteful Spirit
- for armor I reccomend Rune of the Fighter (Power and Toughness)
- for weapons use sigil of bloodlust for staff and main hand weapon, for off-hand use sigil of accuracy or sigil of superior life
- focus on power, toughness and healing power, precison isn’t very useful for Necromancer, and condition damage only if you play conditonmancer.

If you get axe/focus and staff I would think your best stats would be:
power/toughness/vitality (hotw gives you these stats and has quick runs)
healing power/power/toughness (dungeons don’t give this)
If you’re using axe and focus you wouldn’t have much if any condition damage, so +condition damage wouldn’t be all that useful to you.
Pumping up toughness would be very beneficial followed by power, especially considering 5% of toughness becomes power and power becomes healing power.

as for runes rune of the lich would be great as it gives you vitality, +condition duration, and the chance on being hit to summon a minion.

you definitely want sapphire jewelry as it gives you healing power, toughness and power.

if you use condition damage (scepter/dagger+staff) you want chrysalis jewelry and carrion weapons. It might also be preferable for you to get CM healing/condition damage/toughness.

Thanks. This clears up a bit of my strategy. The mean reason why I decided to try axe/focus was because of vulnerabilty and, like I said, this build assumes Arena will fix the Minion AI.

So… I guess what I am seeking is kind of a tanky Minion Master with not really a high DPS, but rather enough tricks to make the enemy weak and easy prey for my little critters. Toughness makes sense, combined with Power and Healing.
