how long must we deal with this
a pet that don’t attack and stands there watching u get slammed ain’t worth much
seriously how long will this remain broken its been a loooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggg time
Since february 2014 to be precise.
They’ve been busy since then:
1) they had to convert the cashmachine for China;
2) they had to project and throw Southsun Cove 2.0 to customers asking a whole new area;
3) They had to fix tooltips for all the 8 classes;
4) They had to make an awesomely sick new armor set.
That’s not a small work to do.
OFC, if they would spend focus for a smarter approach to the game development it would all be better and sound justified.
But the policy seems to be spend some effort to let the cashmachine rolling, let the farm grow on itself and cya in 6 months.

The problem is minions inherit their AI from PvE mobs. Reworking minion AI = potentially breaking the AI of every single creature in the game.
Sorry Bhwab, I respect you for your dedication, but this sounds really subjective and inappropriate.
So, well, I can’t really say why PVE mobs (Mesmer’s AIs too) still keep on working, chasing you, when our Minions sucked bad in the past, got bugged since February and now don’t work properly 50% of times.
There haven’t been any substancial change in PVE mobs’s AI.
I’d say the problem is this mentality: “We release a game without the knowledge on how to fix or make it work correctly, so let’s release it and then let it float, there is plenty of bugged class to choose from”.
This time it’s not a matter of “If the game doesn’t suit you, then leave it”; it’ s a matter of “what I’d like to do doesn’t work, and have always had problems, but they don’t have any clue or interest on how fixing it”.
Don’t call in the “priority” argument, because in 22 months there is plenty of time and organization to make things work properly.
This is their well known Incompetence Trademark.

That is exactly the reason I’ve heard them say, and I know for a fact that all AI in the game has a core set of AI that is shared. That doesn’t mean every single mob has the exact same interactions, but that trying to fix the core set of mechanics could potentially have bad side effects.
Now, I’m not saying they shouldn’t be trying to. This is a massive multi-profession issue that has existed in one form or another since launch. But I would rather they do it right, rather than massively screw things up, and I don’t think they know how to do that right now. I really think they need to just hire a third party group to fix it for them.
So official feedback. Ok then.
I’ve figured out that if the minions are moving when you launch your attack, there’s a high chance they will simply sit out the fight. This isn’t a big problem in PvE since you can normally just wait for your minions to catch up before starting the battle, but it’s a real headache in PvP/WvW when you should always be on the move. (I’ve lost a number of fights simply because my minions decided to play cheerleader instead of actually helping.)
