Probably never on the first point, that’s why death nova now deals 1.5k damage to enemies around the minion when they die.
On the second point, who knows.

Why are you using quotation marks there…who are you quoting?
Anyway, this is about right. Nobody in the forums are going to know this. People at ANET wouldn’t know either because they either don’t see a problem or don’t know how to fix the problem since it has been lingering since before launch.
AoE resistance only ANet would know. Cleave? Imo never. Minions have always been single target, even since GW1, and I find it unlikely it will be changed.
Will they make our elite not scared of water? Will they make our #6 heals minion heal itself out of combat? Will they make them non-full CD on res?
Will they make viable for a dungeon boss fight? (Max life taken per hit for example) Will they make them viable for dungeon trash (AoE reist)
All doubtful.
They try to balance this game of top team PvP. They can be 1 click counter in PvP.
If they made minions actually work in a dungeon, the’d be too powerful vs players in WvW (Unless they had diff damage vs players to NPCs)
On top, when people say minions are not useful from a PvE view. Someone will say, they are as good as Spirit weapons, and they are fine, as you can set up Wormy on some boss’s to stand somewhere he wont take boss dam, so it’s a don’t trait/use the rest, it’s a learn to play issue.
AoE resistance?
I bet they’ll instead give the Minions extra health in PvE and WvW.
It’ll make MMs stronger 1vs1 in WvW but I doubt Anet cares because at large WvW is about winning group battles.
It’s much easier to add health than to add a new resistance system that has to account for a ton of different skills and mechanics.
Cleave?
The current weapons already have pretty solid roles.
Well, maybe not the Dagger.
It -might- be fine with just number buffs, though. Dunno.
Out of Minions only Flesh Golem makes sense for cleave imo.
I doubt that Necro gets cleave before “new” weapons are added for the Professions.
Once we can use a Sword, a Greatsword or a Hammer then we’ll likely have cleave.

and when a minion gets hit, not you – it shouldnt enter combat mode for your character
