What the title says..

Minions 50% of the time will not attack.

Minions just have a poor AI. It got a little better from before, but its still really bad. Alot of the time they will either lag behind/pull random enemies/get stuck/not attack/attack wrong targets. I try to avoid using them outside of PvP where its more trouble than its worth. They also stupidly die from any and all AoE so you have to watch out for that.

In what situations, what are you using them for, what game mode, how often are you moving, do you summon them only for combat or do you keep them up all the time, etc.? Minions are basically fine when they are first summoned, after that usually its only flesh golem that has realistic issues.

I’ve had the same experience as op. WvW roaming they stand and watch, and in spvp if you aren’t camping they freeze up too. Pretty kitten annoying.

This still happens. And It is extremely annoying and game-breaking how minions will rarely attack when this happens.

This happens specially underwater and against objects.

The last days this happened, I’ve only seen them attacking creatures that damaged them or my character first, no matter how I move or how many skills I use on enemies. Unless the enemy does something that damages them, minions won’t attack. They just stand still there, doing nothing.

Even when you activate their active skills, they will too often break aggro and just stand there doing nothing if the target doesn’t strike back in retaliation from the skill.

Here’s a list in order from what they will rarely attack no matter what you do to what they will attack the most when they get ‘hung’ like this:

- Objects.
- Targets underwater.
- Creatures that have not damaged them.
- Targets in a position they can’t reach walking, even if they are ranged minions.
- Targets that their master has targeted with their active skills.
- Targets close to their master.
- Creatures that have damaged their master.
- Creatures that have damaged them.

They should Add F2-F3 skills to necromancers appear over the bar when minions are summoned.
- F2: Force target. Makes the target the minion’s target even if you do not attack the target. Just like F1 with ranger pets.
- F3: Dismiss minions. Destroys the minions without triggering beneficial death effects like death nova or life force (like when you replace their skill in the skill bar), but still counting as death count to enemies attacking them.

These icons would be in the background, grayed and translucent behind the life force bar when not in use, and pop upwards an become opaque and colored when a minion is summoned.

This frustrating issue is the reason I don’t run minions on my necro. Watching them happily staring at the daisy on the ground while I am being beaten to death isn’t cool.

A way around this is not to travel with them out of combat. You summon them when combat starts and usually they are ok and will attack. Or you can just do what most of us do and pretend like minions don’t exist. The most infuriating is the elite…when that bag of flesh and bones just stands there all stupid, it makes me so angry -.-
