So I’m sure we’ve all noticed that the music fades out while in death shroud; is there any particular reason for this? Is it to highlight the impending doom our opponents should be feeling, in which case wouldn’t it be better if everyone around the necromancer had their sound dimmed? Or does the sound dim so that we may better hear our own manic laughter, as befits death mages? However, given that death shroud lasts around fifty seconds when traited, some of us may have a hard time chortling for its entire duration.

How do you feel about the music (or lack thereof) in death shroud? Why do you think it is this way?

Yeah, I get the thematic approach to canceling music in shroud, but it really can screw up moments that might otherwise feel epic. Maybe they should apply some sort of filter to sounds instead? Make it feel kind of deranged or creepy, but still have SOMETHING playing. It’d be pretty cool. Or there could just be a disable/enable option in the menu.

I remember saying a long time ago that when entering shroud the background music should suddenly turn into loud heavy metal xD and then we you exit it goes back to the usual Sunday morning with the birds singing feel.

I personally quite love the audio effect with DS.

In normal form you’re just strolling about the woods where birds chirp and soothing music plays.
Then you shift into Death Shroud and you enter this shadow realm, where all normal sound dim away and you hear these whispers calling out to you.

It reminds me a lot of the shell shock effect that a lot of war movies use
(e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OqSg7WO4tT4).
At times, I wished that when death shroud ends you have a similar sound effect as when the shell shock ends; only with a more ghastly feeling to it (instead of a kettle noise, maybe more the sound of sucking in air real quickly).
