Must be a joke
Take a stunbreaker and try dodging? The thing you described is kind of what I do to a necro when I see him with my 2 fears, 4 second daze and the golem knokdown. That’s one of our core problems after all.
My SW was on cd. And i did dodge…..
Unless you FRAP it people won’t take it seriously…Sorry :/
Memsers can do that, but guess what, Necro fear builds tend to have that ability too. Wait for mesmers to get their interrupt buffs the next patch, and then come and complain! You’ll hate to face them.
Plus, we have stability, you just didn’t trait for it. How’s that anets fault?
Lol this thread seems to be turning out to flame the guy. He has truth to his post, come on. Being vulnerable to CCs is one of our core problems.
It is. The thing is, I saw weeks ago a mesmer build threat in the mesmer forums. A guy made an insane interuption build. Dealing some dmg, but mainly itnerupting, with every interupt the mesmer got. Hard to pull of, but this is what mesmers did in GW1. It will get even “worse” with time, while more mesmer realize the potential on interupts and stuns. I like the way this is heading.
However, being a necromancer in this position is the worst that could happen. I play both professions, so I know what to expect, and sometimes running is the best defense one has. But maybe, the whole expecrience is biased due to not remotly expecting that. If you know, how and what he did, maybe you will be able to prevent some of the CC through fear and daze of your own…
Chronomancy works, I am proof of it. Now stop asking me questions. Time must be preserved!

Note to beta, Mesmer+Warrior or Ranger+Warrior, permacced while eating 100b, even a guardian (who had 66% instead of 33% stability uptime with boon duration) couldnt counter that.
Kinda was simmilar to this: http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fgAQNAraWl4zionRTrGZ9IxJFJ35oe09s/9SKi9tB-TsAAyCtIkSJlTKjUSpsSNKY9x8DA but with more dazes
In pvp it is crucial to understand other classes. It would be a lot more helpful to note what the mesmer did so we can actually give some constructive advice. If you cant do that then the problem is not as much about mesmer vs necro as it is about your level of skill.

After all that preaching about skills… you provided what exactly?… Oh wait nothing. Person above you for instance didn’t need details to know what mesmer can do to achieve above described.
Don’t talk about skills when you have no idea wtf it is that you are talking about.
I sometimes just am in complete awe at times when i play this game. So I’m in a hotjoin spvp… I come up to a mesmer (ONLY 1) and i’m hoping to at least stall till my team arrives. Absolutely no exaggeration—- This guys skill rotation had me not able to use one ability………………….. NOT ONE.
I just got tossed around. Waited. Waited. Tried to activate my heal.. dazed.. waited.. waited.. I DID NOT GET TO USE ONE ABILITY
Is this some kind of joke Anet is playing on this class? Why? Why in gods name do we not have stability? Why? Why is it so inconceivable to have stability but burning is? This is not an attrition class. It is not a “in the middle of a fight and taking damage and blah blah blah”
I’ve really just been awoken. This is nonsense. Absolute nonsense. Why don’t the necro’s just be redone so that they only have health. No abilities. No interesting gameplay mechanics. Nothing interesting or useful at all. Just lots of health. So we can run around and take damage. lots and lots of damage. lol who came up with this?
and they are getting buffed soon.
I agree. It’s a bit bad to have to go 30 into the Necros worst tree to get stability.
Necromancers have always had this problem. We have bad stun breakers, and very little access to stability. The only way to get reliable stability is to put 30 points into Soul Reaping. Problem is, the Soul Reaping line kind of sucks.
I take it back: the soul reaping line really sucks. The master minor trait is the only good thing in the line aside from stability. The stats it gives are only meaningful to power/precision builds, since condition builds neither have a use for crit damage or have the Life Force generation to take advantage of the larger pool. Condition specs also don’t have anything to do in DS other than use the fear.
Gluttony: Might as well not exist. I’ve never seen any circumstance where I thought “Oh, if only I had 10% more life force” and had not already been full. It is a waste of space.
Fear of Death: This skill only works after you’ve already lost. I suppose some kind of terror build can take advantage of this to tick away more of an enemies health after they’ve downed, but as always it is a 1 second duration on a 90 second cooldown, and at the most you can hope you down them with it and then win the downed state fight.
Vital Persistence: This trait only works if you are trying to spam Life Blast in a zerker build. Otherwise it is completely useless.
Path of Midnight: A half decent skill, but why oh why is it only 15%? Regardless you end up taking this trait because there’s nothing else that is universally useful in that line.
Spectral Mastery: Fine if you are running spectrals.
Speed of Shadows: The speed boost is negligable. We already have swiftness and a speed signet.
Unyielding blast: This is only good for zerker necros who are using Life Blast as their main form of offense while in PVE.
Mark of Revival: it is a mild nuisance to anyone trying to stomp. I can see some use in a terror build, but again it is a 1 second stun on long cooldown, and it only works when someone else has already lost.
Decaying Swarm: A locust swarm does absolutely nothing when at low health.
Master of Terror: This is nice for terror builds that don’t want to go into the power line. However, due to how terror works, unless you get a full 100% duration, you’re only going to be getting 2 ticks out of terror anyway. So it is only useful for dedicated terror builds.
Soul Marks: Only useful for PVP hybrids. In PVE the staff auto attack generates exponentially more LF than soul marks does. In PVP power builds are much better off with the dagger/focus or even the /warhorn for LF generation. Condition builds that aren’t dedicated to the staff would be severely kitten by using the staff, and since you need 30 points for stability you can’t be dedicated to the staff.
Strength of Undeath: a 5% boost that only works when you avoid using DS completely. It’s a brilliant strategy to put traits that discourage DS in a line that focuses on DS.
So basically unless you run a full zerker build or a dedicated terror build, the Soul Reaping pool is going to be full of lackluster traits that don’t contribute meaningfully to nearly anything the necro does. Vampiric Necros, Minion Masters, non-terror condition necros, tanky necros, none of them benefit from this trait line. And for terror necros, you can’t get any of the procs because arguably the most useful one is exclusive with Master of Terror and Foot in the Grave. But you have to take it, since stability is necessary for a necro’s survival.

Guess this is what Anet meant about necro’s getting CC’ed then ‘Trained’.
Dev’s also said that, if we had stability we’d just be guardians.
Hope we get more/shorter CD ‘Brakes Stun’
There’s also little bits, like. They moa you and your pets are gone.
They can be one of the most annoying class’s to catch, especially if they know what glowy hands to look for.
Oh and as for actually finishing them off… It’s not quite like our 1 person fear.

Its extremely flawed logic on ANets part. Warriors have access to a ton of stability, but they’re not even close to being like guardians. Engineers have stabilty, nothing like guardians. Rangers have a 20 second long stability and don’t even remotely play or function like guardians. Giving stability to necromancers wouldn’t make us guardians even in the slightest. We still wouldn’t be able to tank like a guardian. Just be able to get some of our abilities off without getting knocked around like a bowling pin.
Sounds like you are either running full glass cannon or you just got outplayed. It happens. Though our window of opportunity is small to beat mesmers it’s still there and you just missed it.
Omg, was that you? I think you were the first victim of my mesmers shut down build xD, if it makes you feel any better it doesn’t do -that- well in team fights because you only can shut one guy down at a time….
