My day has been...
This is pretty common. Unfortunately, many of our woes gets swept up in “team game” and “before are just very team dependent and placement dependent”. Which obviously has its own issues. Without going into a long rant, it’s common to feel this way. We do well if unchecked but are pretty easy to check. Best to play for fun rather than victory or perhaps test around with less popular builds to try to be semi-effective, yet more defensive.
I’ve recently played a bit of 6/4/0/0/4 celestial dagger wh/staff with LF on marks. It’s surprisingly effective, clearly lacking but it’s something different Snd slightly less squishy than the meta, so maybe it’s sonething to toy around with. Sorry you’re having a hard time!

I can’t see how losing is still fun though, how being tossed around and completely obliterated every time I step out of spawn is fun. I’ve tried a tankie necro build before, it only extended the time I had before I met my downfall. My damage dropped by a lot and the only thing that kept me alive was my second health bar, but if focused by CC and what not, I was a goner in a split sec still.
I appreciate your input and good wishes, but I just can’t see how playing this class is fun. I must be a masochist, or maybe just too prideful to admit that my first class ever just straight up sucks and every other class can do a better job all while not being stomped to the ground rather easily.
Everyone’s saying Revenant is what the Necro should have been, so right now, I have my eyes set on that class.

Don’t just follow what everyone saying, understand why it what’s necro should have been. I am still waiting on HoT to see how high is their give a kitten factor and what will happen to current classes and rest of GW2. Revenant is the best designed class so far on paper but no reason for me to worry until I see the whole picture, not sure I’ll stay for a second expansion if this one fails to deliver.

Ahh it’s not so bad, power necros are especially good now. Even if they do kill us now if your team is smart they realize when there power necro goes down now one of the enemy should be down soon too.
I’m not the greatest but I do fine, if you need help some of the fellow necros would probably be more than happY.

I think we’re not that bad in PVP and obviously i’m not alone: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Best-Class-for-PvE-PvP-WvW-charts
Getting ping ponged as a Necro is way too common in sPvP now.
I was so frustrated yesterday I rolled a turret engi to see what all the fuss was about.
I solo-queued and my team won 17/18 games I played.
With minimal skill and minimal experience.
It really shouldn’t be like this.
I enjoy necro, really, despite the overwhelming forum opinion. My only complaint right now is lack of a utility with sensible stability and the new stability change making corrupt boon useless(ie: very difficult to use in solo pvp situations).

Pocket Rot- Necro
I started necro for the advertised attrition gameplay, and played with conditions. Then one day I wanted to be competitive and less frustrated. Nowadays I partially succeeded (frustration is still there) with a full out glass canon…
Sometimes I look back to the promises of attrition and cry for how far I am from it…
This class design is a failure…
Yep, more matches of being pingponged around and/or cc locked by a warrior while, along with the SAME factor that always destroys my hopes of even being able to get my life force bar up, the cunning pewpew Ranger just 1 shooting me from 0940394832093 miles away.
The class relies too heavily on life force to even stay alive for a longer bit to dish out damage, and it relies even more heavily on lich form, which has a long cd. Can’t do anything if I’m taken out of the fight before it even begins. “Position well!” Again, against any half decent team in PvP, any combo of any class, can skirmish you rather easily and end it for you there. I’m probably just bad at the class, as well.
Can’t dish out any damage if I’m taken out before the fight even begins, no life force, lich on cooldown, some times I feel like I’m a Moa more often than I’m turned into one.

More fear access could mitigate the CC handicap.
Fear is our only hard CC. If the profession design is meant to be low on stability, it should be high on fear.
