Hello again,

I was just wondering what the rationale is behind not giving necros access to stability.

Unless we dedicate 30 points towards it, we just spend a lot of our time lying on the ground..

I’m wondering if the reason is:

a) We are a dot class, so while we are flat on our backs then our bleeds are still ticking away on the enemy

and/or

b) We have Death Shroud which should allow us to eat the damage we receive whilst knocked down.

What other rationale might the dev team have for not giving us easy access to stability?

I suppose from my perspective that the above reasons work in theory, but in practice, well, enemies just cleanse my dots, then I use up my life force during the first knockdown or two and then…erm…it’s back to the spawn point for me.

How many people are traiting 30 Soul Reaping for stability? Is it worth it? I am currently 0/30/10/10/20. Is it worth giving up the Greater Marks / Mark on Dodge trait for stability?

For those people who do not trait for stability, do you have any tips/tricks for staying on your feet against builds with a lot of knockdowns? Besides just running away, of course

I used to use my 30 points in Soul Reaping for quicker DS cooldowns, but after getting knocked down and having a full LF bar eaten to zero while still on the ground AND dying – about 3 matches in a row – I said screw it I’m using stability. And I don’t think I’ll ever give it up.

The only thing I find I can do when I DO get knocked down is pop DS and fear them but of course this only really works against one enemy

30 points in soul reaping seems cheaper than a kingdom.

If you’re not playing to win, don’t complain when you lose.

While we don’t have access to stability unless we pour 30 into soul reaping, I think we’re the only class that can REMOVE stability from other players. Even another necro in plague form can have his 20 seconds of stability removed with focus 5 or corrupt boon. This would also make us the only class that can prevent stability stomps

Mesmers have 3 or 4 ways to strip boons, and thief has 1 (but you need to run sword/dagger to get it), including the lich form 5th attack, we have 5, although ours are better overall.

Edit: all 3 classes also have one traited method to remove boons.

Mesmers are actually better overall boon strippers than us IMO, and more consistent.

We have the huge benefit of being able to CONVERT boons however, which definately gives us an edge when it comes to stability.

As far as I’ve read originally devs meant that you’ve stability when in DS, but they decided to nerf it a little to 3 seconds and thought it was cool because no one else than necros were complaining about it. I guess it’s also because most of the time you die or DS will wear off before those 3 seconds.
