My son's build
Also, do jagged horrors (from the Death Nova trait) count as minions for either the Vampiric Master trait or the Fetid Consumption trait?
They do, I believe.
Is Bawb still around?
Maybe add siphon sigils and inteligence sigils, and energy sig.
Otherwise, considering you take siphon add a little healing power to the build. crits are nice but not the main focus om a mm build.
maybe take Consume conditions to heal some more and cleanse.
But if he is playing with family then the build is good and it already has healing..
Maybe add siphon sigils and inteligence sigils, and energy sig.
I don’t see this as a bad build at all. there is one variety and that is withTraining of the master and putrid explosion.
good build keep it!
E.A.D.
Thanks very much for the feedback.
For siphoning sigils, do you mean blood and leeching? I can see how they make sense. Do they work if you are in death shroud?
I looked on the wiki to see how life steal healing scaled with healing power, but couldn’t find it anywhere.
I’ve been trying to understand how things work by looking at the combat log, but it’s a bit tricky. There are things like:
- You heal yourself for 50 using Jagged Horror Species Buff.
- You heal yourself for 50 using Bone Fiend species buff.
I assume these are the Vampiric Master healing. In the build editor, 100 healing power only increases the healing amount by 2 points.
Thanks again for the help and suggestions!
If your son wants to stay as a glass cannon MM necro, then ignore this post. I am suggesting a new direction.
I would model my skills + traits similar to this: http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Necromancer_-_Minion_Master
For armor, I would go for Nomad Armor instead. By choosing to use Nomad gear, you lose all damage but you become extremely tanky. Your son will depend on the MM damage. Also, your son will play as the support/utility role. He will use his skills supportively, trying to protect you or himself while his minions will do the damage.
If you can afford Melandru, then go for it. I use Lich Runes because it fits the MM theme + because I couldn’t think of anything cheap and good.
Energy sigil is important. Dodges are the necro’s only invulnerability frames available for them.
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
I know the 4/0/6/4/0 MM build is pretty popular, but I tried a variant of it that seemed to work well too. It’s 4/0/6/1/3. I took the 3 in soul reaping to take the Vital Persistence trait for Death Shroud and for the one that give you spectral armor when your health dips.
I just find these Soul Reaping traits more useful than having your minions siphon health back to you since health siphoning sucks overall; why trait for it? Anyway it seems to work for me; Death Shroud lasts longer and that’s key for my playstyle.
Your son’s build gave me a pretty good idea. I changed it for better survivability and increased the damage (sort of).
Ive been playing necro since around release and necro dps doesnt work the same as other dps, all the power in the world doesnt mean much if your target is moving around and canceling damage. I also run thief and fear stacking doesnt help power necros much if they cant take damage because im breaking stuns and blinding all over the place.
The original build had almost no cleanses, messed with that a bit so it should be fine now, I would have liked to use a purity or generousity sigil in there as well as shrouded removal trait but that might affect some damage survivability but if you find you need more cleanses you can try those out.
Because of lack of teles and all that, chills, cripples and immobilizes are pretty important. DS is also important cuz you want to be able to keep up with stealth and ranged attacks.
Upped the crit to 50% so changed the perception sig to bloodlust. Lemme know how the build works out, i might actually use it.
I replaced staff with D/D to increase movement speed because the original build has no condi damage in it. so now you get the same condi removal with some chill (sigil), but can now simultaneously stack weakness and protection.
