I will admit outright that I don’t like running fractals. I’ve been playing gw2 for 8 months and counting and I’ve run fractals maybe a total of 10 times.

That being said, ascended trinkets is certainly a powerful incentive, as are the fractal skins, so recently I talked myself into running some more fractals.

Currently I have 4 level 80s, a zerker thief, anchor guard, zerker warrior and this necro. I’ve been leaning towards making this necro a pure condition build (since none of my other characters are), but I’m not entirely sure how viable a full condi mancer will do in fractals in a random pug.

So the question is, should I go ahead and get the exotic rabid gear and go full condimancer if I intend to use this toon for fractals? Personal skill and playstyle obviously plays a big role in this decision, but I’d love to hear your opinion on which necro build worked the best for you guys in fractals (since I’m still so inexperienced)

Also, slightly deviating from the topic, I ran an undergeared condimancer in wvw and had a ton of fun hiding in zergs and nuking things. I know “fearmancers” is what a lot of people run in wvw but 1. I dont know the fearmancer build and 2. is it as fun as a condimancer?

Condition necromancer is a good build for ANY ground thanks to epidemic. The only thing you would need to “worry” about in fractals is dodging the skills that apply agony, which has nothing to do with the build anyway as NONE of the necromancer builds have a way to completely negate it.

As for your second question, that’s something you should just find out on your own. The fear necromancer is just a variant of a condition build, to the extent of using the same type of armor, so just try it yourself and see what happens.

Rabid gear is amazing. I use it with my Condition necro and its very noticable when I enter the fight(I sometimes surprise my friends with the instant condition load onto all the enemies xD).

My necro focuses on Bleed duration, so I run him with Rabid gear, half and half krait/afflicted runes, and rabid accessories/rings/amulet and back piece. I also use staff + scepter/warhorn. Some people don’t like the warhorn, but I keep it on for the interrupt. I also run with the condition stacking sigils on staff and warhorn, as well as one condition heavy orb in scepter(soon to be replaced with superior sigil of malice on scepter and staff). The final part of the Bleedromancer I have is a tuning crystal and the condition duration food. Koi cakes I believe is the one that gives 40% condition duration.

the heal/utility/elite I run is consume conditions, because you will be applying conditions on you when staff 4 is on CD, Blood is Power(with this build, the initial 2 stacks of bleed last longer than 1 minute and hit for 15k damage when its run its course), epidemic – because of the obvious, and the signet that gives power as passive and adds a slew of conditions on activation. Lich form for elite because of the burst damage being able to apply a bleed, also it keeps me at staff range, which is my preference.

I’ve personally never tried the fearmancer build though. I’ve seen some things, and it sounds like its good, but I prefer my build over pretty much everything else. Back in beta 1 though, I was a total minion master.. but that was well over a year ago. Things have changed.

Your better off going hybrid in fractals. Toughness wont be doing anything for you at the high fractals.
