Necro Bunker in pvp?

My opinion: you’re not going to be able to compete with ele and guardian bunkers. Necros just don’t have the same sustainability options that those two have. We can get kinda close to the same ballpark, but it won’t be the same. We mostly are just really good at getting hit in the face with a large health pool.
Since the actual healing capabilities of necros aren’t stellar, it’s good if you have a lot of ways to regen LF quickly, and have a lot of LF/toughness so that you can take hits in DS.
I would say go at least 20 pts in soul reaping for the 15 pt minor and soul marks. Other than that, maybe 10 or more in death to get some toughness and staff traits or reapers protection. After that, just build for your preference and you will still be naturally on the tankier side.

I’ve used this to moderate success. It has lots of stunbreaks and escapes, decent condi removal, fair amounts of mini-heals via spamming dagger 2 + toughness on channel trait, and a good amount of LF regen (Spectral armor + dagger 2 = godmode). Only glaring issue is the pretty poor damage and ‘meh’ amount of bleeds you can stack with it. I find that BiP+staff2+darkpath+sigil of geo swap+dagger5 gets a fair amount of stacks, and with the might stack bonus it ticks for over 100 which usually gets the glass cannon builds to back off.

That seems fairly tough, no mark of evasion though? Anyway, I get the idea, just jump in and out of DS and hope for the best? Might stick with my conditions build and use my ele to play bunkers tbh…
well, you could also be one of those guys and run around with knights gear and full minion bunker… :P~
but modkip really answered your question well. our DS mechanic is really good, but imo it could use a tad tweaking to get us in the tank club as an ele or guard in terms of bunkering. (its really close though!) or they could just nerf some ele skills and guard staff skills and call it good.
Ive played a Necrobunker build in guild matches a few times. In my own experince we bunker better with CC then straight mitigations.
I had much better success assualting a node or keeping it neutral though.
Well DS will be even more efficient when they fix Soul Reaping to provide a bigger life force pool, so there’s that.
Being a Bunker means keeping a point on the map the same color as your armor even through prolonged attack.
Necro has every tool required to make this possible, except Stability on a short cooldown. In PvP if you don’t have Stability you can’t hold a point against knockbacks and you won’t survive any focused burst or pulsing interrupts.
One of our minions should give stability and have a kitty kittenLoad of HP yet do very little damage. Then Necro can compete as a full bunker.
