Ellies and Mesmers (imho)
I have tried cond necro and now using powermancer but after trying out a d/d ellie and confuse/shatter Mesmer my powermancer just feels like the ginger-haired step-child of the caster classes :-(

i know exactly how you feel.

I really would love to play my necro more, but everytime i do i instantly regret not going on my elementalist.

necro just feels …. slow and not involving enough compared to ele. ele is so much more fun (and better opverall as class aswell)

I had a fight in spvp hot join last night with a D/D ele and we were fighting 1v1 for about 5 minutes until the end of the match. a thief intervened at o point so the ele backed off and I killed the thief. then we carried on. necromancer and ele are well matched 1v1 if they cant escape or get out of range.

I was running a hybrid terror build.

Wait until the Elementalist changes to water field, use Corrupt Boon, win. Mesmer’s are the true superior class to counter Necromancers, unless your heavy direct AoE damage its very hard to land hits on them.

Yea pretty much that, but the only problem is you cant be both at the same time.

While totally true, I find there’s a small subpopulation of the D/D Elementalists that can beat condition necromancers. Maybe it’s just a nuance thing on my part, but with all their cleansing they eventually outpace my condition damage with their regular combos.

Indeed, we cannot fulfill both roles at the same time which can hurt us quite a bit. Although it is very much possible for a conditionmancer to take out a mesmer, and a powermancer to take out an elementalist. Yes, you must be much more skilled than the said class, but managing to roflstomp that mesmer/ele after that well earned down leaves you with a evil smirk on your face

Of course, if that said elementalist/mesmer is a better player than the said necro, then of course that said necro will most likely die. I run into those well played elementalists as well when running tournies with my guild. Although they are out there, they are also rather rare and uncommon with the high skill cap involved with the class.
