I’ve been PvE-ing a lot, trying to “tag” all the POI, vistas, etc. I find that necros are very good at doing so because of our mobility. The combination of warhorn #5, spectral walk and summon wurm works really well. warhorn #5 and spectral walk gives us 11s and 33s swift respectively and to get those POIs, the ones positioned in the middle of a mob camping ground, just summon your wurm at the entrance, walk in a bit, spectral walk until you tag that POI, then simply teleport back using spectral recall and then teleport again to your wurm. You can teleport back to the entrance in about 1 second if done correctly.

I’m just putting my method of PvE out there, hopefully people can learn and improve on this method of exploration.

…..and you can jump off very high vistas and let the DS take your falling dmg

but if you’d die from the fall in human form you’ll still die in DS

Hmm they are great skills, but other professions are better for exploring. I’m thinking about thief especially, and mesmer.

I did not know that… i just jump .. go DS… and after taking dmg i turn of DS and walk away with 100% hp. Maybe i need hight to check this. (Falling Dmg should be 150% of healthpool with full DS availible) this would clearify it.

I love thief for exploring, signet of shadows 25% movement speed increase.

ps. necro is still fun to explore with.

DS will take the damage if the fall would not have normally killed you. If on the other hand the fall would have killed you in human form than it will kill you in DS. DS does not save you from Death falls.

So any fall that would kill in human form will also kill you in DS.

Ele is the best for exploring as their ride the lighting lets them get to places that Necro’s could never do.

If you take falling damage while you are in DS Lifeforce is considered to be your health. So, if there is not enough Lifeforce left to survive the fall, you die.

Well, most other professions have more mobility than we do … no, that’s not correct, all of them have more mobility.

Thats actually a great idea, I’ve only been using spectral walk so far, and using DS and plague to get out of some sticky situations

Problem is that spectral walk does not save you from falls. Go try it out in the mists. If you use it and run off the cliff you can’t jump back to your starting spot. it just cancels the effect.

If you really wanted to spec for exploration… you’d be using the -50% fall damage trait, the cooldown reduction on spectral skills (for Spectral Walk), and the cooldown reduction on warhorns for Locust. At that point you get 100% uptime on Swiftness and take less falling damage (used this spec for a while to get the map done). Now, that’s an exploration build.
